View Full Version : Two things that make me happy...

In the last two days, two things have made me quite happy.

First, I pulled a record tank: Almost 37 MPG! That's up quite a bit from the 29 that I recorded from my first couple of tanks on here. The only results I can recall which were better were very long distance highway drives (from the Bay Area down to L.A.). The average temps haven't been all that much warmer, so I think it is likely the hypermiling techniques that are in large part responsible. :)

The second thing happened today--I put the battery back into my FSP and it started and drove around just fine. It's been about four months since I last drove it, and I remember why I like it so much now. :) I realize that it's more responsible to drive at 37 MPG rather than the ~20 the FSP gets at the moment, but it's still great fun.

I realize that the second one isn't of much interest to most folks here, but it still makes me happy.

Hi Dave:

___Just hearing that the FSP wasn’t started for four months really impressed me :) Way to go on both the record tank and not having to start the beast over that amount of time!

___Good Luck

A 914 qualifies as a fsp? Given that it has similar weight, engine power, and displacement to run of the mill economy cars, I don't know. But perhaps you're talking about a third vehicle?

Aww, man... I thought I'd kept the 914 addiction hidden. ;)

Anyway, that is indeed my FSP. The engine management on that car is much more primitive, and the design of the engine is much less optimized (e.g., low compression, two-valve heads, funky hot/cool spots due to uneven air cooling) so it is rated as getting worse FE than the CRX.

Mine's worse, as it has some "issues" I haven't been able to figure out in quite a long time...
