View Full Version : Three booster seats in a Fit?

My trusty civic is due to retire in the next 12 months due to insufficient seat belts in the back.
I see the Fit has 3 full seatbelts in the back and therefore COULD take 3 booster seats in the back seat. The only problem is the width. I don't know how wide it is back there. Anyone here tried it? I really want to stay with honda and want FE too. I only occaisonally (approx once per 2 months) need to carry the kids and when i do, it's only for 2 miles from creche to home.
I could of course get a bigger car but cost is a high priority; it's a second car.
Any help would be great!

I don't have young kids, but the back is 49" from door sill to door sill.
And yes, it's still my favorite car. If only it had a small diesel!

I once spoke with a guy who would shop for a vehicle with his golf bag. If his golf bag didn't fit, the vehicle was off the list. When my mother was looking for a new (to her) vehicle, she was worried about having enough room for her needs (cooler, dog crate, etc.). I suggested taking an empty cooler and dog crate and try it in the possible vehicle. [/ramble]

My point: I'm sure you could take your car seats to a dealer and see if they'll fit in the Fit.

Good point Skwyre. I just need to go and buy 2 booster seats. My eldest is in a booster but the twins are still in the earlier seats. Even though i don't need them for nearly a year, i guess i just need to go and buy the narrowest booster seats i can get and just try them in a list of cars, starting with a prius....

efusco had three seats in a Prius at one point. There's a picture floating around as proof.

Just measure the seat with a tape measure and multiply it by 3 plus some clearance. Then, measure the car.

My first thought is you can probably get 3 of those booster seats in there, but its going to be tight.

The thing about booster seats is that you need room to get to the belts, and the buckles. And when kids get in booster seats they inevitably want to do everything themselves (including buckling into the booster seat). I have a Honda Accord, and I don't think I could squeeze 3 booster seats in there, but then again I didn't pay much attention to the width of it either. I would think the front to back room would be a factor in a Fit as well. I am about 270 lbs though, so if you thinner it would be less of a factor.

I get 3 booster seats in my Scion XB. I did have to hack saw off the arm rests but it was worth it.

Hi Vtec-e:

___I doubt you will fit 3 boosters in the back of a Fit. It may have 3 belt positions but it has to be one of the shortest tracked cars in the US. Except maybe for the Smart ForTwo? Make sure that is not one of your needs or that it fits before you purchase of course.

___Good Luck

On some booster seats the arm rests are essential for properly positioning the seat belt.

You're in the old country, right?

You'll be getting a whole new Jazz too. It's bigger in each dimension, but only a couple of Kilo's heavier. Advice. Take your seats, try it out in the existing Jazz. If they barely "fit", then wait for next years Jazz.

That is true, but not on the type that I have for that car. The boosters I have for the mini van can not be cut.

Thanks all for your advice. Much appreciated. I guess there's nothing for it but to get some boosters and go try 'em out!
