Had a pretty good trip with the "Fit' over three days. Great hypermiling routes on the eleventh for 74 miles. The twelfth was more difficult with a coal mining region run to Mount Carmel, Pa. -lots of mountain driving on unfamiliar routes then on to Williamsport on mostly gentle rolling hills. I drove from Williamsport to Scranton, Pa. today and had a killer 42 mile stretch on Route 118- I think this is as close as it gets to a hypermiler's dream in Pennsylvania (little, to no traffic and plenty of long glides with posted speeds of 45 to 55 mph.) The trip home was via the Pa Turnpike and I did the best I could with mostly high and moderate speed P and G's and a little close-in drafting. The totals: 416.3 miles (yes, the "low fuel" light was on for the last 21 miles) and 9.142 gallons of fuel expended for an average of 45.537 mpg. I'm happy with these totals considering the overall terrain. Back to the secondary routes almost exclusively tomorrow. I just plotted the course and am excited because the temperature is to approach 57 degrees!:Banane45:
Good luck and continued safety to everyone.

Good numbers! I'm heading south tomorrow from Reading area 222 > 30 > 83 to baltimore area. Mid 50's and 5 MPH tailwind on the way there; w00t!

I'm hoping to at least match 44 again, traffic shouldn't be too bad. If I beat your 45.5, I'll post up when I get there!

Edit: Gotcha @ 46.07 MPG ;)

Nice! 46.07, eh? That's a great number! Lots of P and G there and back? I hit 47 mpg on Friday on a day trip of just over 200 miles. I selected the routes carefully to arrive at that number though. : )
Back out tomorrow...
Have a great week.
