View Full Version : Found an Insight in SC..
Euroford 02-22-2008, 12:51 PM Anyone who may be interested:
I happened upon a Silver 2000 Insight at a private dealer here in Florence SC. I took a quick look at it. It has around 47,000 miles on it, with a lifetime MPG of 55mpg (not the highest I've seen). The car is a 5 speed car, with NO A/C. It has some tacky aftermarket wheels on it, and some equally tacky window tint, but the car looked to be in generally good shape. I asked how much that they were asking, and was told $7500.00... Fair? I don't know, but obviously negotiable.
If anyone is interested, please let me know, and I'll pass on the dealers name and number.
BTW the dealer is directly across the street for Florence airport, so a buyer could conceivably fly in and drive home.
Cheers,
Dave
atlaw4u 02-22-2008, 01:42 PM That sounds like a great deal, especially if the price is negotiable. Find some OEM rims and tires and watch that mileage climb.
Euroford 02-22-2008, 02:41 PM Can't understand why anyone would put tacky wheels on an Insight, but to each his (or her) own.
If anyone would like pics of the car, or want me to go and drive it, I would be happy to for other CleanMPG members.
Cheers,
Dave
diamondlarry 02-22-2008, 03:32 PM I think if I had the $7500 and money for a plane ticket there would be an Insight in my garage by Sunday evening.;) The mileage seems relatively low for a car of that age.
Wow... sounds like a great deal. I'm with Larry on wishing I had $7500 for a car though.
Euroford 02-22-2008, 04:51 PM It's about the same price I paid for my 2000 Insight, but it has less miles on it then mine. If it had A/C I would consider looking at it for myself (and swap my stock wheels over to it), but I'm not going to give up my A/C for a few less miles. :)
msirach 02-22-2008, 06:30 PM That is a great price with low miles if it has a clean title.
GardenWeasel 02-22-2008, 07:24 PM No AC? That's hard core...
atlaw4u 02-25-2008, 12:57 PM I live in Texas and have yet to use my AC in the Insight but at least I know it's there if I need it.
Euroford 02-25-2008, 03:14 PM I agree, it's nice to know it's there. I've used mine a handful of times to demist the windshield, but never for more than a minute or so at a time.
GardenWeasel 02-25-2008, 08:26 PM I'm impressed (and feeling a little spoiled!). I've lived in Texas couple times, and summer always felt like being in an oven. So hot it kinda took my breath away. Not that SC is any cup of tea for being cool.
Aether glider 04-15-2008, 12:37 PM Here's one. Way too high though. Its probably in good shape or it wont be for sale by them.

msirach 04-15-2008, 02:41 PM If anyone is looking at a car, I have CarFax for 3 more weeks. Send me the VIN via pm and I will run it.
2008Mazda3i 04-15-2008, 05:39 PM You guys that don't run A/C in Dallas our hardcore. I prefer to run the a/c rather than be in a pool of sweat by the time I get to my destination (a few mpgs is not the end of the world for some personal comfort) BUT thats just my 2 cents :D
Hi Mike:
___Thanks for offering up the CarFax lookup to the membership and if anybody is looking at anything used in the next three weeks, buy all means PM Mike and let him do his thing!

msirach 04-16-2008, 02:23 PM Glad to help!
I am helping my mother-in-law search for a new (used) car. First car I ran for her had only been in 2 wrecks in 13 months/20,000 miles.
