Don't get me wrong. I had to replace a car, and under the circumstances I feel the HiHy was an excelent choice. But, I'm wondering about people who didn't have to purchase yet, but decided to go ahead and get an auto with better fuel economy. That easily could have been me and my wife. The minivan was aging, and we were already considering a replacment, but I was hopeing to hold out for a plug-in. Finding in on its back with the wheels twitching made the decision to buy-now easy.

With the new laws combined with EPAs reductions is actual mileage, how much more economy will we really start seeing out of new vehicles? Should we have waited another year or two before making a purchase. Should those considering a purchase now wait for the next generation of vehicles to be released?

Hi Jonathan:

___If you cannot wait, you have to purchase what is available but if you can, by all means do. If you were considering a Prius-II with the -III just a few months down the road, wait! It may turn out to be no more than a modded Prius-II (we expect this) until the Li-Ion’s arrive but it will be an upgrade none-the-less.

___Good Luck

That can be a tough call.

If your minivan was running on a day-to-day basis, I don't blame you for your decision.

My 88 CRX was totaled in Sept 2000, so I could not wait six months for the first Prius' to arrive - got an Insight instead.
