The only Euro spec’ed vehicle I have driven was the 07 Civic iCDTi and it was not OBD-II equipped. The upcoming 09 Euro Accord and Civic w/ iDTEC will be however.

Will the ScanGauge II work on my vehicle that was purchased outside of the US and Canada?

The ScanGauge requires the vehicle to be either OBDII or EOBD compatible. In the US and Canada, cars and light trucks were required to be OBDII compatible starting in 1996. In Europe, EOBD was phased in between 2002 and 2004. Other parts of the world have required one of them starting in various years.

Many vehicles made and/or sold outside the US and Canada had one of the protocols before they were required in that country. This was to allow sales to other countries and because they knew they would eventually be required to meet the requirements and designed it in when they redesigned a particular model.

There is no comprehensive list of when particular vehicles began using OBDII or EOBD outside the US and Canada.


So it's hard to say, I just saw someone with a UK '99 Sharan that claims it's got OBDII but then the Sharan was a joint project with Ford...
Check your manual, or call your dealer to be sure. You're looking for OBDII (OBD2) or EOBD compatibility.

___Joy123, the OBD-II connector is 16-pin but if I were you, I would not gamble on it. Did you find anything in Europe saying if it is an OBD-II connector and bus possibly? I would simply feel terrible if I sent you something that would not work by any means possible is all :(

Thanks for the reply. I already logged 600+ miles since I got my FEH on 2/23. I've been getting 31 mpg combined. Not only that, I cut my gas bill in half since selling my 99 Explorer!

Received mine last night. All was good, but it did get opened and inspected at the border and dinged $26 in tax and handling fees which is unusal when using USPS. Oh well, bound to happen once in a while.

I'm still at work but the wife had the day off at home and just called to say the Scangauge arrived. So far as I know they haven't asked for any additional fees, and they did release it to us without asking for any at the door... I'll confirm as things unfold for interest's sake.

Went for an SGII equipped drive with my Dad in his m5 Accord this morning. He does a lot of NICE-on coasting but saw immediate gains from dfco. Now he wants a scangauge too. I should get him to sign up here. If you'll have us we'd be in for another one next go around.

If I remember right mine said "gift" too... Still got dingged, no worries though. It's the first package I've ever had opened/inspected using USPS. The money saved over the years is well worth getting hit once in a blue moon. Thanks GREATLY for using USPS. It would have been double the cost if UPS and the like was used.

Group buy of scanguage still going? Brand new to forum. Live in Canada and want to order one so put me in! I will pay when you say to do so. I went to pay but it says $150, while one posting says $140. What will the price be. Oh, please ship via USPS, couriers to CAnada mean broker fees, broker fees!

___You do not have to pay until the GB fills. Once filled, they all ship immediately once the group pays on an individual basis. Make sure you ask in the new GB #4 thread as it was started on your account ;)
