See references to 150,000 mile/ 10 year warranty on the Insight's battery pack. Have seen other references that say the 150k warranty is only in a few of the hottest US states. Anyone know FOR SURE which it is?

The extension initially was only for a few "hot" states. They extended it to ALL states in August of 2006. Mine was changed out in October of 06 in Southern Illinois. Battery pack and modules were all changed at 137,000 for $0000.00.

Mine's at 130k, hope it craps before 150k...

All 50 states are covered so long as the car has never been issued a salvage title or been titled in Canada I believe.

Good to know. Mine doesn't quite have 69K on it yet so I've a while yet. ;)

Thanks for the clarification folks. Are the 05 and 06 Insights also covered? The original "hot state" extension appears to apply to the 00-04 models.

The 05-06 models have the updated programming that controls the use/charge rate.

So are you saying the 05-06 models have an 8 year 80k battery pack warranty?

Yes, the TSB does not list 05 & 06 models.

I'm a little confused here...is the 150K warranty only on the early Insights not 2005-2006 or does it apply to all Insights? I'm watching for an Insight in my area now. :)

Thanks,
Brad

Think it's upgraded for all Insights now.

Why is it they offer extended battery protection in only specific states?

Here I have the 10 year/ 150,000 mile but outside of the northeast it's only 8/80,000.

The warranty is extended to ALL states. Mine was changed out in October 06 for FREE. I am from Illinois which was initially a "cold" state.

It would be nice too be able to lock the ctv into the lowest ratio once you are under way. This may be a simple thing to do? I believe this would help with the FE, but may be hard on the pack. Sort of like a O.D. button on the shifter. Some of you electronic buffs get with it!!! H

I know this is a little off topic, but does the rest of the IMA system only get the 80K Warranty?

I was under the impression that the ENTIRE IMA system (HV battery included) is covered.

If this isn't correct I'd certainly like to know about it...

When the IMA battery is changed, the TSB requires the MCM and BCM to be changed. There is another recall that came out a few months ago for the ECM to be changed at whatever mileage. It had a history of throwing "bad O2 probe" codes.

You can sign up with your vin number at Honda Owner Link (https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?page=%2Fprod%5Fhome%2Easp) and it may show some of the information of what you are eligible for.
