After seeing the success at the Tour de Sol with an Insight, I decided to go to Honda's site and do some checking on prices. I'm not looking to buy in the near future but it's good to know your options. For max mpg's, which would be best, the CVT or the 5-speed. I think I know the answer but it would be nice to have "insight":p from an expert.

5 Speed but not for the reason you think. IIRC, there is no lean burn on the CVT model. Wayne can confirm this.
You better get your Insight soon. They go out of production in July.

I was wondering about the lean-burn whether or not the CVT had it. Bummer about them going out of production. At the moment, the way my finances are, I would almost have to win the lottery before I could buy ANY car let alone a new one.:(

you can always find a good used insight, over here they can be found for less than 11000 cnd.
edit: Nm all gone! none for sale wow
Hi Larry:
___Dan is right. The CVT’s are Lean-Burn less and would be a huge detriment to your FE without it at slower highway speeds. As for picking a used one, Dan and I had a long discussion about this. You really really really have to be careful here. I left a nice post on my own thoughts for purchasing a used Insight over at IC about a year and a half ago you might want to look up if you were actually considering purchasing a used one as your own.
___With that, Billy told me somebody out near him (Washington State) may have picked up the last brand new Insight 5-speed available on the planet last week. A brand new Blue 06 w/ A/C IIRC. I told him I would love to own that just to put it on a lift and leave it alone for 25 years to see what comes of it. They are actually rarer then Ferrari’s in fact and a perfectly maintained/conditioned OEM 06 in the year 2030 might be worth a hell of a lot of money!
___Good Luck

I'd definitely choose the 5-speed. The latest Prius and HCH match the CVT Insight in FE, so why get a two-seater over a car that seats five?
