View Full Version : XGauge Support for Honda hybrids

Anyhow, I finally had a few more moments to review my supported PID list and I decided to email Linear Logic concerning the support of Honda hybrids - particularly the HCH-II.

Ron at Linear Logic replied almost immediately with the following sentence among his reply:

"...We are working on getting Honda codes. Hopefully we'll be able to round up the Hybrid Specific codes at that time..."

So far, there are many of us at least here at CleanMPG, not to mention at other forums and hybrid clubs that are very eager for any level of support for the HCH-II. I suspect, Insight and HCH-I's may also be covered.

I've offered Ron any support he may require to make this easy but from his reply they appear to be on-track. ETA? I did not press for that.

I for one will not send in my SG-II's for updating yet. I'll wait until formal XGauge support is available for Honda hybrid specific codes.

We got to give Ron and the gang an applause for their efforts. On the other hand, it is also good not to be left out, eh? Besides, there are far more HCH-II's on the road than FEH's. ;)

That sounds very good! Do you know if there is some sort of planned support for accurately determining fuel usage during Lean Burn operation? That single feature would immediately make the SG a much more useful device for many drivers out there...

I have no idea Sean.

Frankly, I would be quite happy to find myself in the same boat as most Prius with just SoC and Battery voltage. With any luck, they'll fare better sorting out the Honda sequences than they did with Toyota's. I still think the FEH people have it the best.

Personally, I would first let Ron and his people sort out the codes that can be interpreted and then we'll see what we end up with. But I agree, that LeanB "gauge" would be invaluable for many folks including many Insight and HCH-1 owners.

I've got the L/100km fuel mileage gauge as one of my gauges on my scangauge and it reports exactly what the stock display does regaurdless of if I'm in regular or lean burn. Maybe it only affects the mpg display.... or maybe I never hit lean burn ;)

Not sure how benifical having a gauge saying wether your in lean burn or not would be... its quite noticable when you are in it... at least on the insight. Maybe its different on the HCH. Actually thinking about it.... Having a gauge up that said if you were in lean burn mode, plus having the MAP gauge up so I can test PIMA with gauges instead of watching the display might be intresting. I'd like to see what was going on.

Actually Blake, I was referring to the inability of the SG to correctly track fuel usage when lean burn mode is entered. Since it only computes based on air flow, it never notices the drop in fuel usage and so continues to report lower numbers than it should.

That's why it isn't really useful for calculating efficiency in a lean burn vehicle.

Sean, I understood what you were saying, but I havn't noticed it reading incorrectly. Maybe I'm not paying attention enough... but the L/100km is almost always spot on when I look at it and compair it to the stock gauges.

Does the mpg readout differ? If it does and the L/100km readout does not, at least that could be used reasonably with a conversion factor calculated after the fact!

I'll check that today on the way home.
