Today I finally got the OEM Potenza RE92's put on my Insight. Previous owner had replaced them with some 175 width Aquatred 3's thinking the OEM tires were no longer available.
Pulled my first 100 mpg segment over 25 miles on the way home with tires @ 55 psi all around where my previous best was 80mpg... during the summer!
Looking forward to new tank numbers in the future!

where did you find yours? Tirerack is backordered with no estimated date of restocking.

I have a friend that works at Firestone, found the last 4 in the US apparently. 3 in a warehouse and 1 sitting at a store in NC, had it hand carried up this week.
Said he's never had this many problems getting a set of tires!
Also he says the aren't "discontinued" they just aren't making them... right now...
I've heard people say Discount Tire has a lot in a warehouse somewhere, you may check them.
I was expecting the numbers to be higher but the overall feel of the car is so much different. It just floats along effortlessly it seems - used to feel like I was fighting it to make it accelerate or maintain speed.
Now I have to adjust my target MPG setpoints on the highway - I used to hold 75 mpg going uphill but now it accelerates!
BTW 100 mpg over 25 mi, all highway - average speed was 55 mph. Can't beat that with a stick. I'm sure there was some elevation drop over the segment going the direction I was, I'll have to check it next time I go out there. I'll have to swipe my brother's GPS, lol.

I've got dunlop sp20 FE 185/65/14 on the car right now. They are good low rolling resistance tires but I've heard that switching to the stock tires should provide a noticable increase in FE. Not sure how much of an increase but I imagine it should be at least a little bit noticable.
Not to mention the OE tires weigh less and with them my speedo will finally read correctly ;)
I checked the availablity on discount tire's website and it says Low availability. I'll call and find out :)
EDIT: Ok, just called.. looks like they will have to special order them. They are calling bridgestone right now and will call me back in a few minutes. :)

Keep us posted - if they can be gotten easily, I may want to buy another set to stash until these wear out.
Maybe vacuum sealed to prevent dry rot. =)

I just went to my local Bridgestone/Firestone dealer when I replaced my Insight's tires. They had to order them, but they arrived 2 days later. No prob!

The first set I replaced locally at a regionally owned store. I had to give them the vin # and how long I had owned the car. I thought they may be nuclear! The last set I ordered from Tire Rack and they arrived in two days.

Well it looks like they don't have any in stock like they thought they would at the other stores. He said he had to make some more calls but it looks like I'll have a 6 - 8 week wait until they start production again.
