View Full Version : Completed - ScanGauge-II w/ X-Gauge Group Buy #1
Hi All:
___Would anyone be interested in a group buy of SG-II’s by Christmas for $150.00 shipped? If we can put 10 together, I can have them drop shipped. I spoke with Ron at Linear-Logic (home of ScanGauge) about it just yesterday in fact and he said feel free. You are selling them by the boatload anyways ;)
___If you are interested, reply to this thread. Once 10 members have shown interest, I will set it up with Ron and the gang at ScanGauge. The full Linear-Logic SG-II warranty and packaging will be intact so there is no need to worry about that. I will setup a CleanMPG Pay-Pal account so you can pay by CC if that helps as well?
___In the future, I will try and bundle a purchase like this with a CleanMPG trinket if it were to actually move through my hands but more than likely it will be shipped directly from Linear-Logic. Expect to see more of this type of HW in the very near future.
___Good Luck

Blaster94 12-05-2007, 11:31 AM I would like in on this. Can we also get a good deal on extra cables as well?
GaryG 12-05-2007, 02:08 PM Put me on the list Wayne, I was about to call Ron, so this save me a call. My Kids wanted to go in and just give me the money for Christmas, and I already have a Pay-pal account.
Thanks
GaryG
Hi Blaster and Gary:
___I have you on the list and that makes 2 :) We need to hit 10 by the 17th or 18th to make sure you get them by Christmas.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Chuck 12-05-2007, 04:21 PM Could we get spammers to paste this thread? :D
Blake 12-05-2007, 04:27 PM I can link it to the various other boards I am members of... but I think I'd have better results talking to some of my coworkers. I bet I could easily sell 2-4 of these things within the next few days. I'll get on it ;)
ILAveo 12-05-2007, 10:46 PM Sign me up for one. "I can think of somebody who could use one, " he said quietly while looking to see who was eavesdropping for Xmas secrets. :)
Hi ILAveo:
___That makes 3. When I get to 5, I will go ahead and just get the 10 moving. I am still working on the CleanMPG trinket part but I think it is doable as an added (well maybe just a laughable extra) bonus :D
___Good Luck

MetroMPG 12-06-2007, 01:18 PM Hi Wayne -
Count me in as buyer #4.
I couldn't justify a new SG2 when the only difference from the original unit was aesthetic. But there are now enough functional improvements to entice me. That said, I'm really looking forward to evicting the giant SG1 from its perch on top of the cluster.
Way to hook your customers, Linear Logic!
Darin
Blake 12-06-2007, 04:37 PM Wayne, you can add one more to the list. One of my coworkers will be signing up to the site to get in on this group buy. I had talked him into getting one last week, but he wanted to wait until he got his next check to order it. The group buy price is just an added benifit :)
I'll get him to send you a PM with his details.
Skwyre7 12-06-2007, 08:56 PM I have a friend (or two) who might be interested. I'll try to get a definite ASAP.
Hi Blake:
___Your friend makes 6 and Michael’s 7 or 8. I have an E-Mail into Scangauge for payment at the “good price” :) They will ship me 10 and I will begin shipping them out once a payment from each of you arrives.
___Today I setup a new CleanMPG Paypal account for those that want to pay that way and will be working on a CC payment solution outside of Paypal for future items although that will probably not be viable for quite some time. Tom is trying to put something together for a form based entry for the future but that may not be ready until next year.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
kristian 12-06-2007, 11:36 PM I would like one too!
Hi Kristian:
___That makes 8 or 9. I am sure with other members reading this thread that by tomorrow afternoon, we can close this out with at least 10 total. Any more is fine but we have to have a cutoff at some point to get the SG-II’s delivered to you all in a somewhat timely manner.
___I will contact Ron at Linear-Logic again in the morning and make the appropriate arrangements. I will then post back to this thread with what I will need via PM (Private Message) so you all will have your SG-II’s delivered by late next week or early the week following god willing.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Skwyre7 12-07-2007, 07:37 AM My one friend is out. He said that $150 is still a little steep right before Christmas. I haven't talked to my co-workers yet, so I might still be good for one. But that's a big maybe.

Cool--it would be really nice to have it by the 21st when we make the annual trek "over the river and through the woods...", but if it's not here that's ok.
Let me know the Pay Pal stuff when it's set up.

Blaster94 12-07-2007, 11:35 AM Same here just let put up the paypal info and I'll get payment sent. Can we get an extra cord also for an additional fee?
GaryG 12-07-2007, 12:50 PM Same here just let put up the paypal info and I'll get payment sent. Can we get an extra cord also for an additional fee?
Curious, are you wanting the extra cord for a laptop connection? In that case, I am interested also.
GaryG
Blaster94 12-07-2007, 03:54 PM No the extra cord would used when I want to read the codes in another car or use the SG in another car. I'm getting the new SG for my Dad for a Christmas present. My SG is wired into my truck and the cable is not easily removed for use in another car. If you want to connect to a laptop I believe the second cat5 connection uses a standard patch cord. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Blake 12-07-2007, 06:29 PM The interconnectivity for downloading data on a computer is not yet working on the scangauge.... although it is in the works.
krousdb 12-08-2007, 07:51 AM I believe that the SG can be daisy chained? If so, count me in for another one. Let me know the paypal account to send $ to.
Blake 12-08-2007, 09:39 AM Yep, they can be daisy chained! I almost want another one... just for extra gauges, although I don't need another one. But it would give me an extra one so I could lend it out and convince people to buy one ;)
Hi All:
___Please send me a PM w/ your Name and Home Address so Linear-Logic (ScanGauge) can send the units out to you directly. For payment, I set up a CleanMPG - PayPal account using my CleanMPG E-Mail address. Once I receive your PM’s, I will send you the link and account name to complete the rest. You can do this by check if PayPal doesn’t work for you.
___Blaster, I will make sure an extra cable is shipped along with the SG-II but I did not ask if there would be a Group Buy discount on the extra HW?
___Good Luck
___Wayne
ocspray 12-08-2007, 09:58 PM Add one more to the list.
Hi Ocspray:
___Received your PM and replied!

___Wayne
Hi All:
___So far, I have Gary G., Dan K., Harry N., Shawn K. and Rich V.
___I received payment from Shawn K. yesterday.
___I have not received the rest of your home addresses by PM. To get the SG-II’s to your homes this week, I need this info as soon as possible. I will reply to your PM with my Paypal account info.
___Good Luck and thanks again.
___Wayne
Chuck 12-10-2007, 01:42 AM Remember - you can change the display colors now, including red or green for Christmas. :)
Hi All:
___So far I received a payment from Shawn K., Dan K., Harry N., Blake and Gary G.
___Ken, check your PM’s.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Blaster94 12-10-2007, 01:47 PM Just sent payment. I hope Dad enjoys this one as much as I've enjoyed mine.
Hi Josh:
___I received your PM and payment.
___Darin and Michael, I have not heard from either of you yet.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
kamikaze 12-10-2007, 03:39 PM I would like to join in on this group buy. I will send a PM for you Xcel.
Thank you,
Brent
Hi Kristian:
___I received your payment and address and you are good to go! Kamikaze, check your PM and that should wrap it up. Only one left is Darin and I PM’ed him a bit ago. I will order a few extra’s but if anyone wants one over the next hour or two, PM me or reply to the thread.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
MetroMPG 12-10-2007, 04:18 PM Paypal sent!
Sorry about being the last one, Wayne. I usually rely on e-mail notification for thread updates, but I didn't get any for this one. Going to check my subscription options...
Darin
Hi All:
___They are ordered and will be shipped from ScanGauge as of 20 minutes ago. I hope to hear that they arrive on your doorsteps by Friday at the latest!
___ILAveo and Kamikaze, they are shipped but I still have not received your payments yet. Check your PM’s.
___Blaster, I ordered your extra cable. It was $19.95. You can send me a check for that one as Paypal is killing me with a $5.00 or $7.00 charge for each payment :( Check your PM.
___Because this one filled so quickly, I will setup another Group Buy later this week with a separate thread. No guarantee by Christmas on those however :(
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Blake 12-10-2007, 05:36 PM Wayne, how did you set up the paypal account?
I know you wanted to setup a system to accept credit cards, but for future reference, if you can convince people to pay through automatic deduction through their checking account, you shouldn't have to pay that transaction fee as long as you have the account set up as a personal account.
Just an idea
Hi Blake:
___Thanks for the input. I just figured it was easier for people to use their CC’s and I knew it was coming :(
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Hi ILAveo:
___I received your payment this evening and thank you! Just Kamikaze’s funds and a check from Blaster to clean up and that will conclude this Group Buy.
___Ron and Joey (ScanGauge owner and employee), thank you for making this happen.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Blaster94 12-10-2007, 09:36 PM Sorry Wayne, I just read this and had sent you the paypal from an email notification. In the future I'll send a check if needed because you are right about the paypal fees adding up.
Hi Blaster94:
___Your last transfer cost me a touch under a buck so it was not like I am forced to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the next week or anything :D
___Only Kamikaze’s payment to finish this one up.
___Please reply to the thread that you received your SG-II’s as I sort of feel responsible even though I did not ship them …
___Good Luck
___Wayne
kamikaze 12-10-2007, 11:39 PM Got my payment in.. Can't wait to get my SGII!!!
Thanks Wayne!
Hi Kamikaze:
___Got it and thank you! That closes out the Group Buy and post when you receive it :)

harrynew 12-13-2007, 01:52 PM Mine just arrived in my mailbox. Really fast response.
Now I just have to wait for another week until I get delivery on my new FEH.
Right Lane Cruiser 12-13-2007, 02:12 PM Congrats on your new purchase -- and welcome to CleanMPG!!
ocspray 12-13-2007, 04:32 PM That was fast. Thanks, Wayne and LL.
PaleMelanesian 12-13-2007, 05:02 PM Off topic: How can harrynew and ocspray both have 0 posts? I am looking at a post from each of them, right here!
Hi Harry and OCSpary:
___That is good news. I received Darin’s and will ship his to Canada this evening.
___Andrew, good catch. It appears that the post counter might be FUBAR for new members? I will contact Tom …
___Good Luck

MetroMPG 12-13-2007, 06:07 PM Wayne -
I didn't realize you had to act as intermediary in shipping. If there's extra cost to get it to Canuckistan, just let me know.
Hi Darin:
___Post from LL to your home was $25 so I told them ship it to me and I will post it to you for hopefully far less :)
___Good Luck

Thanks for getting rid of the zero posts nag.
OT:
I think more customers than just me would enjoy reading the development history of the ScanGauge. Wayne, I don't know what your relationship is with LL, but you might pass that along. There would be much rejoicing amongst the hypermiling nerds.

Ah, that's cool. Didn't realize that. I can see arguments in both directions for that.
kristian 12-14-2007, 12:02 AM I got it in the mail box tonight. Tomorrow will be the first test of the new engine block heater AND the new ScanGauge!
Thanks for the great deal and the quick response!!!
K
Hi Kristian:
___Great news and I cannot wait to hear of your success ;)
___After I hear from a few more of our first Group Buy members to make sure they received theirs, would anybody else interested in another 10 SG-II w/ X-Gauge Group Buy at the same price? As fast as these arrived, if 10 were ordered by Monday, they still might make it by Christmas?
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Blake 12-14-2007, 08:27 AM Mine came in the mail yesterday.
ILAveo 12-14-2007, 10:10 PM Mine came today.:smilingface (52):
GaryG 12-15-2007, 06:12 PM Mine came today! Thanks so much Wayne!
Most likely, CarlD will be getting some questions after I get up to speed on all the post and at the SG site.

fitmpg 12-15-2007, 08:32 PM Hello everyone. I'm logging in for the first time and would certainly be interested in the Scanguage II w/ X-Guage group. I found this web site last night by chance and boy, was I ever tickled! I have been hypermiling just a little without even knowing there is a term for it and that there are others out there with copious amounts of knowledge on the subject. This is awesome. I can see that if I'm really to get serious about this pursuit, I'll need one.
By the way: I have a Honda Fit (2007 MT) which I recently bought. I got 40.97 mpg mainly highway on the first 133 mile trip. I have been averaging just a bit over 39 in mostly highway driving. Does anyone wish to fathom a guess as to what I can expect when the engine is broken in and I become reasonably proficient at hypermiling? A highway mileage estimate is fine. I look forward to visiting here often.

krousdb 12-16-2007, 07:16 AM Sweet! Mine arrived Thursday. I now have eight gauges. Maybe too much information.....
RHill 12-16-2007, 11:05 PM I'd like one. I'll be paying by Paypal and shipping to the Paypal shipping address.
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas. :)
kamikaze 12-17-2007, 12:00 AM Got mine on Friday, hooked it up Friday... it's soooo easy!
Now my big dilima is where I am going to put it... I like the idea of on top of the steering wheel, b/c then it's easy to see, but I don't like how it looks when it's there...
I've got a compartment to the left of the steering wheel, it fits good there, a little hard to see, but it works the best there, and I think in the next couple of months, I'll make it more permanent.
All in all... VERY HAPPY!!!!
Blaster94 12-17-2007, 09:48 PM I got mine today!
Hi Blaster:
___That makes 9 and thank you for letting me know it arrived! I know it will pay for itself many times over :)
___Only Darin in Canada is awaiting his. That one is in transit directly from me and hopefully Darin receives it by the Holiday.
___I started the second SG-II w/ X-Gauge Group Buy (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7788) early this morning.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
MetroMPG 01-02-2008, 08:43 PM Last, but not least, my SG2 arrived today. Thanks, Wayne!
Don't worry about the holiday delivery issue. I wasn't. I had the SG1 in operation anyway.
The hold up wasn't entirely unexpected: with $CAD / $USD near parity, I had read there were longer than normal delays in cross-border shipping due to sheer volume.
cheers-
Darin
Hi Darin:
___Thank goodness! I was hoping it did not get lost in a US or Canadian distribution office somewhere :)
___Good Luck
