On my recent trip, I might have missed an opportunity for a great hypermiling run.
I70 out of Denver towards Kansas is not too hilly, and decends from 5,300 feet to 2,000 by the time you arrive in Salida Kansas (middle of the state). The trip meter went from 77mpg to 60mpg - probably the lower altitude was a factor.
The "only" problem is the speed limit is 75mph, with many going 80+ - including truckers. :eek:
From about 60 miles east of Denver to the Kansas state line, 100mpg on a 5-speed Insight should not be that hard (if not roadkilled by a big rig). It might even be possible to get 120mpg.
