This afternoon I've seen some extreme aerodynamic stuff that apparently pays of; though I'm not sure I want the attention it would bring. I've read treads where people are standing on the bathroom scales with tire in hand: bad enough for me without the tire. Also we all have been trying to keep the motor warm( grill blocks, blankets, block heater).

If the weight of the wheels matters so much, the wheels don't roll as well when cold from not rounding out or snow/water on the road; is it worth while to attempt either blocking wind from the wheel or trying to conserve heat around the wheels via insulation or routing heat from the exhaust?

Disclaimer: a half bottle of Guinness and a shot of Captain George's Spiced Rum makes a good drink.

Wheel spoilers stick down on the forward edge of the wheel well and serve to deflect wind around the wheel (I have them on all 4 wheels and many Japanese cars have more conservative versions for their front wheels). Also I exhaust my radiator air out through my front wheel wells, where it would help to warm the tires. I'm not as concerned about minimum weight as an urban driver would be since most of my driving is rural/interstate.
