View Full Version : Aerodynamic vehicles save lives

In the days before I aero modded my Civic, I used to "thunk" a bird on the grill a couple of times a year. But since I reshaped the front end to eliminate the flat areas, the birds are picked up and carried over the top of the car by the wind (its kind of amazing to watch), along with the butterflies and dragonflies that used to go splat on the front of the car. The aerodynamic shape would also be pedestrian friendly, scooping them up and over the car rather than crushing them against the grill and then sending them under the vehicle. It even helps with rabbit and frog-sized animals (they still go underneath, but the smooth underbelly panels reduce the chance of them impacting with vehicle components), and the skinny tires reduce the cross sections of the "twin ribbons of death" that the tires leave behind them on the road.

Just spent a little time going through the pics of this car I see on your signature and afterwards to the mileage logs ( top of the gas burners).

I've always liked dragon flies, so it's cool you've saved a few. The Mods on the Civic are quite extreme and I really wish I had not seen it. Good luck; I'm off to get either materials or shock therapy.

as long as its solar or wind-derived shock therapy its ok, but if you have to burn fossil fuel to get zapped i think its time to get building... ;)
