Hi everyone

I'll be installing MIMA & FAS in my citrus 2000 soon, after I build the board. The check is on the way Mike - really!!

Is there anyone with MIMA that is within a couple hundred miles of Cleveland Ohio?

I noticed how Randall did the joystick on Mikes website and am looking at the same method...with the same rattly husco armrest. Excellent work Randall.

Today I saw the pics of your rear mounted display - I like it....alot...hmmm.

I was thinking of mounting the display below the radio in front of the stock cupholders - any thoughts.

right under the IMPG bar on the dash is very nice, if you go with the long, one-row display.

After trying many positions, I like the central area that hafnhaf indicated. Once you see that the stock assist/regen display is not accurately showing the true assist/regen, the MIMA display will be where you will look for that info, so it is best right in front.

I mounted mine right below my stereo, behind the cup holders. Works fine unless I have a huge cup, but that is very rare.

My joystick is on the shift knob and works really well. I do have to be careful and not accidently hit the PIMA button - I might customize the buttons to help.

I've been debating as to where to put mine. I just installed the armrest king armrest today in my insight and I love it... its the perfect height. I wanted to install it in that armrest but the only way I can see to do that is to mangle it pretty bad...

Got any pictures of your shift knob install?

If you have a bumpy ride, the armrest joystick is definitely preferable.

Carelully drill holes in the four corners of the postage-stamp circuit board with the joystick. Use the holes for the one-way ties.

I thought about making a molded housing to fit in the niche on the front.

that spot is pretty small.. then again I don't know exactly how big the joystick is. Making it an external mount would be much simpler than having to hollow out the armrest, but there is a signigant amount room at the very front of the armrest where a controller could mount. I want it to look decent so I'm not sure how I'll acomplish it but rest assured I will find something :)

I took a pic of it. I didn't notice till I loaded the pic that one of the wood knobs is missing from it's post.

It measures 1 3/16 x 1 3/16.

do those buttons/knobs come off easily so they can be reapplied if I put it under something?

Yes. The post is tapered.

Just to add a bit of confusion here, I have two joysticks, one on the front of the shift knob and one on the emergency brake handle. The MIMA board will accept two, so both are active all the time. The one on the shift lever is very handy for FAS because I can push down the center button to FAS as I shift into neutral. I use the one on the E-brake for messing with MIMA while driving along in gear. This avoids applying pressure to the shift lever and possibly wearing the synchro rings. The location near the front of the E-brake handle is a bit further forward than the armrest so it's easier for me to reach. Somewhere further forward might be even better.

Mike Dabrowski uses 2-part epoxy putty to hand-shape mounts. Makes a very tidy installation: after it sets it can be sanded and painted very easily.
