Hi

I was N-ICE On coasting down a hill. I came to a stop at the end of the hill. After waiting for traffic, I stepped on the gas to go and totally forgot that I was in Neutral. Now I wonder how much fuel I burned shooting up to 4500 RPM's? Oh well, live and learn....

Ha. I've done this a few times at stop lights and forgotten I am in neutral. Though I take off so gently that I barely peak 1500 RPM when I catch my error. I wouldn't worry about the lost fuel. Its negligible in the scope of a tank.

Hehe! I've done the exact opposite several times, where I thought I FAS'd but the engine stayed running (this is easy to do in the Yaris as the ECU "queues" fuel up at the injectors). When I come to a stop and take my foot off the clutch to relax... *lurch* :o

Not to worry! In the over all scheme of things we are all bound to make mistakes (I have done similar stuff). I'm sure in learnign to burn less fuel we all burn a little learning, but as you see most of our nos. are going down!

I've done it with the engine off. You know the way you lean into the acceleration. Well, i just leaned forward instead of driving off....

I probably do this about once a day. The other day I did it and a little old lady was sitting on her front step - she looked like she thought I was doing it to try and impress her... that was kind of funny.

Yet another reason why I like loud mufflers. I always know if its running. :woot:
