View Full Version : Is Xgauge worth it to non-hybrid owners?
SSixty 10-18-2007, 07:40 PM Hi all,
I've been paying close attention to the release of the newest firmware for ScanGauge. I see their webpage finally reflects the update info. I missed the FREE update by 3 days! Since it'll cost quite a bit for the update, I just wanted to know if it would be worth it for my non-hybrid. I guess I like the idea of keeping tabs on cost per mile and trans temperature. I'd like to hear from anyone who has received the update.
I also don't like the idea of sending it in and being without it for so long. I'd rather buy another one that already has the new firmware. I kinda wish Linear Logic would offer a download to update the darn thing.
Hi SSixty:
___At 3 days, I might ask for a little good will from Ron and his team. They are really good people but YMMV and there are no promises.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
SSixty 10-18-2007, 07:50 PM Thanks Wayne,
Yeah, it's worth a shot, right?
Skwyre7 10-19-2007, 07:48 AM SSixty,
I'm in the same boat. I don't know whether it would be worth it for me to upgrade. I would probably buy a new unit, send the old one in, and then have two updated units. But I just don't know if it is worth it for me right now. Maybe if the wife let's me drive the Prius again I'll consider it.
laseradam 10-19-2007, 10:22 AM I sent mine in for the free upgrade. It took about 1 week for the turnaround time.
I really like being able to see the trip average at the same time as the instant MPG guages.
That way I can tell in seconds if what I am doing helps my average MPG or not.
SSixty 10-19-2007, 10:26 AM Thanks, the both of you, for the response. I had forgotten about the side-by-side fe gauges.
Skwyre7 10-19-2007, 04:16 PM Being able to see the trip MPG would be nice. Hmm. Decisions decisions...
Chuck 10-19-2007, 08:39 PM I understand it's $25 for the upgrade, but I shipped it to Linear Logic for the upgrade today.
SSixty 10-23-2007, 01:32 PM I followed Wayne's tip and Ron okayed the free update. Thanks Wayne, you saved me $25.
Hi SSixty:
___That Ron is a great guy, isn’t he ;)
___Good Luck

I hope they let me get in as well, I hadn't paid much attention to it (thought it was only for battery monitoring things for hybrids) after I just read that it will do the average as well as the instantaneous fule consumption I really want it!

I was confused about the free upgrade, i got mine on 8/10 so I'm good to go! :)
