View Full Version : Scanguage in Corolla 2007 problem with new software?

I just got my scanguage back with the new xguage software.

I noticed when I am coasting in netual with the engine still running that the GPH drops to 0.00 GPH and the MPG goes to 9999.9 MPG

It never did this before the new software. The lowest the GPH reads is .26GPH and then it drops to 0.00GPH. My trip to work today gave me a trip MPG of 60!

Any ideas? Anyone else have a 5 speed corolla that could see if the new scanguage software is acting the same?

Hi Laseradam:

___That sounds a bit off, doesn’t it? I can bet Ron was working feverishly to come up with a method to indicate fuel cut but you should not see 0.0 gph and 9999 mpg while at idle no matter the speed you could possibly be traveling? You did set it up w/ the 1.8 and as a hybrid and not diesel A or B as well as no speed or gallon offsets inserted for the first tank, correct?

___This one has me stumped and I will see if I can get a hold of Ron after your next reply if need be.

___Good Luck

I have it set up as a gas engine not a hybrid. Set for 1.8 liter engine.
I did set the offset at 4% which was what it was set at before I sent it back.
I did call Linear-Logic but the person who wrote the software is out of the country until next week.
They have promissed to get back to me.
It did not do it on the original software. I was hoping that someone else could see if their scanguage does the same thing.

I might set it as a hybrid on my trip home to see if that makes a difference.

My mileage had been running between 42 and 47 MPG measured at fill-up. When I got the scanguage back with the new software, I set up an xguage on the guage screen to show current trip MPG. And I tried pulse and glide for the first time. I got average trip MPG of 50,52 and today 58 MPG which seems way to big of a jump for my first three tries.

Hi Laseradam:

___I cannot explain the 0.0 gph and 9999 mpg during a NICE-On but the SG-II would show that in a FAS. Remember that setting the SG-II up as a hybrid does not change anything other then the ability to calc distance traveled with no fuel consumed while ICE-Off or in a FAS so your aFCD records a near actual fuel consumed over a given distance. I wish it was the default and only choice other then the diesel setups in fact. Those running NICE-On or just driving it would not see the hybrid function and those FAS’ing, non-idling and P&G’ing would see what they are supposed to see. The non-hybrid setup makes no sense imho. Either way, P&G in an 07 Corolla w/ a stick? 60 mpg would be a new floor depending on how you were performing that technique :)

I think I figured out the solution.
There is a setting on the new software caled "cutoff". I changed it from .24GPH down to .15GPH and that seemed to fix the problem.

Wayne,
What do you mean the 60MPG would be a new "floor with a 5spd Corolla.

I am just starting out with hypermileing. I dont understand what you mean by that.

The highest tank MPG I have gotten is in the 48MPG range. I knew something was wrong with the scanguage when I got trip MPG readings of 60.

What I mean by pulse and Glide is Accelerating to 55 shift in neturan and coast down to 40.
Am I calling that the wrong thing?

We refer to that as NICE-On coasting. Shifting into Neutral with the ICE on.

Good to hear you got your SG working. (Yay Corollas! ;))

Hi Laseradam:

___The Corolla w/ a stick is worth 60 mpg while true P&G’ing although at 40 – 60, the top end is a bit on the high end and the bottom a bit on the low. P&G works best in the low to mid-speed ranges and 60 mpg would be an absolute minimum if you start playing around in those ranges. In other words, its worth around 80 + in traffic and around town mostly unmolested and those kinds of numbers help bring up the overall average quick!

___A NICE-On is not exactly what P&G is but it works. Just not to the same level is all.

___About the 48 mpg highest tank. That may become your new lowest tank if you are willing to push.

___The last time I drove a Corolla for any length of time was my sons 03 LE w/ Auto and she allowed 49.2 over 600 miles in 25 – 50 degree temps. A stick would trounce those numbers let alone warmer temps most are experiencing the past few months ;)

60 is do-able, I'll be happy to stay in the 50s for the winter (fingers crossed), but look out when it warms up again.
