View Full Version : Weird SG problems

Hi all, I hope you can help.

I'll see tomorrow if the work commute looks ok, but I have been seeing some odd problems with SG. The other day I hit a button (it seemed like just one) and all current, past, tank info was erased. That was bad enough. I wish I had had a chance to say, "DO you really mean to do this?" But too bad SG doesn't allow this. A guess a little complaint or problem.

Anyway, I don't know if it has been since then or not, but now I am getting some odd mileage figures as well. I know one doesn't do so well with short trips, but I have been getting the 18 mpg figures and stuff like that. It also seems to be saying I am getting 6-17 mpg on start ups a lot longer than it really should. It hasn't cooled down that much in the morning (and these have been all day too).

I checked and the info on the engine size, tank size, etc. are all correct. Any idea what is going on? I don't think there is anyway I could have damaged it.

Desdemona, maybe you hit the fillup button? That would reset all the mileage data.

Have you checked the gallon offset (under the fillup option) and the speed offset (under setup, more IIRC)? Either of those being off could show a substantial increase in consumption for your numbers?

I agree that it sounds like the calibrations got dumped. It probably thinks you have a 3.0L engine again which means that it would be nearly doubling your fuel consumption numbers.

Hi Des:

___I concur with both Sean and Tim. Look into your offsets and I bet you are going to find one with a 200 to 300% offset because of an inadvertent refuel and cal early in a tank with the buttons causing all of this.

I didi get quite a questionable no. for the commute this morning. Something like 32 mpg, which sounds maybe wrong by about 10+ mpg or so. I'm not sure what % I am getting perhaps 75%. Hmm seems right.

The tank, engine type, etc have not been reset, however I'll try it anyway.
What could I have done that could make that sort of difference. I think that's the question.
I will try resetting the tank even though it seems right.

Dan, if you are reading this, I think we changed something that effected the mpg and maybe that's what got reset. I'm not sure what it was though. Maybe it is what a couple of you are talking about but I am not sure either what it was or how to access it. Any
suggestions in clear nontechnical language?? I'm going to also try the fillup button that Sean speaks of, I think I know where that is anyway.

I don't know how but everything seemed to work ok again this afternoon. I just resaved the 1.8 liters. At least that's what I think I did.
