This CNN Video (http://www.cnn.com/video/player/player.html?url=/video/us/2006/04/28/sherman.stolen.gas.affl), shows a station attendant explaining how four SUV drivers got $8,100 of gas for free. One person pulled the plate off the pump and took it off line. No longer on the network but still able to pump gas, several have just pumped and not paid.

The police just told the attendant, to call the insurance, who also did nothing.

Don't tell me there is nothing that can be done.

Back in the 1970's a Dallas station first tried automated gas pumps. It was simple - put in a one-dollar bill, $1 of gas pumped. Fraud was simple - photocopy a $1 bill. :D

I guess if those yankee cops wont do there job just steal the stuff. Whats wrong with those idiot cops?

Thats just awful.

Get ripped off and the cops tell you to turn it in on your ins. Sounds like some of the worthless cops Ive delt with.

Yup. And what do they think the insurance company will do without a police report.

Yikes. This has got to be the start of a trend. As gas goes up, the ingenuity of people to avoid paying for it goes up, too.

What really sucks is that the gas station owner doesn't make much on gasoline. They have to absorb that $8100 loss but they only make cents on the dollar for a gallon of gas. It doesn't hurt the oil company because the fuel is bought and paid for when it enters the gas station's tanks.

I don't think the video identified where this took place. It could have been local to CNN - Atlanta Georgia.
