The 2007 AWD Toyota Estima Hybrid minivan is rated at 18 km/L or 42.3 mpgUS on the Japan 10/15 cycles. Maybe 33 combined on the new 08 US EPA. To help conserve fuel, the Estima's insulated body and humidity sensor reduce air conditioning demand. The Toyota Hybrid System also allows the generation of on-board auxiliary power of up to 1,500 watts at 100-volts, accessible through standard household-type sockets.
TOKYO - Japan's shipments of gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles in fiscal 2006 to March 2007 scored a robust rise of 47.6% from the previous year to 90,410 units, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Friday. The brisk shipments of the low-emission vehicles apparently indicate that their popularity has soared as people have grown conscious of environmental conservation, said a JAMA official.
Toyota Motor Corp was the dominant leader in fiscal 2006, boosting hybrid vehicle shipments 44.2% to 81,001 units including Prius sedans and Estima Hybrid minivans. Honda Motor Co more than doubled its hybrid vehicle shipments to 7,748 units on brisk sales of the Civic Hybrid.
