If one were to be completely bored out of his/her skull and wanted to look at my cumulative LMPG you would notice a dramatic increase in said numbers over the past 2-3 years out of the 4 years I've had the Prius.

I have little doubt that when I fill up next week, the last tank of my 4th year of Prius ownership, that this year will be the single best of the 4 years. As you are all quite aware the more cummulative miles you have the harder it is to impact the LMPG numbers...a single great tank has only a fractional impact on the LMPG. None the less I've managed to inch up my LMPG from around 53mpg at the end of year 3 to 54.5mpg where I currently stand.

That said, I think my upward progress has probably come to a halt...or at least a slow down. Cooler weather is setting in, it's time to block the lower grill (blocked the upper last week) as I couldn't get the ICE temp to stay over 180 this morning. Although I expect individual tanks in the 55-60 range with 60k miles on the tank it seems unlikely that I'll be able to move that LMPG number upward much over the next 6 months.

I'd sure like to get to a sustained 55mpg lifetime and to be able to hold it there until I sell the car...I think it's doable but I also think it could take almost the entire next year to push it up with the accumulating miles.

Last winter I did actually manage to maintain around 60mpg average, so I guess climbing to 55.0 by winter's end is possible, but I sure won't be getting the 65+mpg tanks I have through the summer.
