Just got three request for systems yesterday and this morning, which will account for the last 3 built MIMA systems. I still have 2 kit versions. Sorry if any of you wanted a built system, and missed this batch.

If the pending sales complete, I will begin the waiting list for another build. I will need at least 10 commitments before I will commit to the large expense of acquiring the parts and boards.
A commitment will mean that you send in the forms, and we discuss what you will be looking for for options on the phone.

Thanks to all of the brave people that have bought and installed the systems.
Hope you all enjoy your cars more, are experiencing better MPG, and continue to have that MIMA grin. :D

I for one am glad to have MIMA installed.

After some problems with the install (my fault! - working perfectly), and the almost universal overuse of the Assist known as "leadfinger", I'm realizing a 5-10% increase in FE already and by no means think I've peaked...may be able to increase 5-10% more.

Deep in the Sunbelt, having the battery fans kick in at 95F instead of 120F should greatly help battery life. Being able to charge the batteries more aggressively is also a very good thing.

I'm extremely pleased with mine too. I didn't get the Leadfinger Syndrome, but it's taking me a while to learn to use more of MIMA's capabilities. So far, my main uses (in order of frequency) are:
(1) keyless FAS (so I do it much more often)
(2) adding in regen, e.g. on gradual downhills that aren't steep enough to merit a FAS, or coming down offramps to a stop light
(3) adding assist here and there to avoid taking an FE hit, say approaching the crest of a hill

Summer has complicated things but I'd guess I'm seeing 10% or more improvement in FE. My PB for a commuting day (34 miles each way) is 103.4mpg and I don't think I had a tailwind either way.

Wonderful to be able to override the computer system when it's doing something I don't want it to do.

I was perhaps the most careless user installing MIMA - quite thankful to Mike and Randall for getting MIMA up and running! :)

MIMA is roughly analougous to the Prius' EV switch - you can access the battery pack at will, but that pack is no larger. In both mods, inexperienced users frequently act as if their battery pack was 2x or 3x their real capacity.

The key to using MIMA is using Assist on your Insight mimimally just like on the stock factory mode, but at different times, tailored to maximize your fuel economy. There are certainly more experienced MIMA drivers, but a mild Assist approaching hills or when you are almost overcharged is good use - "flooring" the Assist is generally a bad idea, except maybe from a stop for a couple of seconds.

i sure do love my MIMA! it enables me to warm up the engine on my low-speed drive through town without any regen (no big FE hit). it lets ME choose when to use assist and when to use regen.

wish i had another insight to get another MIMA for!

So what does the 'K' stand for?

So what does the 'K' stand for?

Didn't see a "K" anywhere in this thread, but if your refering to something you've seen elsewhere talking about MIMA, it is likely the "K" for kit version of the board, and comes just after the serial number.

Randall is correct, K stands for the build the board yourself Kit version of MIMA.
The last two systems are that style.
I will not be offering MIMA in that form if and when I build more systems.
A interesting new twist to MIMA and used Insights. In the past several weeks, several people bought systems before buying a used Insight to put it into.
I will be happy to get to the bottom of the MIMA systems so I can get on to some other projects that have been patiently waiting for my time.;)
