Hey guys, I've been trying to get my Houston group rolling and have begun looking at ways to attract people. Here's what I've come up with. Right now my budget is $0.00 these are all cheep solutions

Check your neighborhood, church, or company newsletter. Some of them offer free advertising to local groups.
Check to see if your company, church, or neighborhood will endorse/sponsor the group (starting one with my company presently).
Google is your friend, look for other groups and try to merge with them.
Look for various social networking sites that help kick groups off (meetup.com is one).
Check to see who's interested in groups in your area, then google around to see if you can't figure out how to contact them. This works well with meetup.com since my budget doesn't allow for their fee based services. For example, google {"11011011" site:meetup.com}, and low and behold, there I am!
Talk to a local restaurant. If you hold your meeting during lunch/dinner most will be happy to host it for the potential of having a dozen meals ordered.

Anyway, share the wealth, I'm sure there are some other ways to find members, please post 'em.

We plan to ask our local dealer(s) to send mailings to their Prius buyers.

How much is www.meetup.com? I think someone on PC suggested that for our 9/29 get-together, but I haven't looked into it yet.
