The Loremo LS is supposed to be out in 2009. It is supposed to be a two-cylinder turbodiesel hybrid and get 157 US mpg and seat four. It's not past the drawing boards. In theory, it sounds like it can be done.

It all is great until they try to bring it to the real world.

The fine print.....

The GT (performance version is going to get about 75mpg and go from 0 to 62mph in 9 seconds - slightly better than today's Insight. The LS version takes 20 seconds to get to 62mph and gets 157mpg.

I wish VW would try and do something like this....
