Hello everyone. My Car Audio knowledge is equivilent to that of a preschooler's. Thats a problem for me because anything I do to my cars has to be done right.
I never really new the difference bettwen a car with an ok sound system and an amazing one. I experienced a really nice sounding sytem when I got a chance to ride in a friends friends towncar. I couldn't beleive how good it sounded. All I know is I want that for my car. The problem is I don't know anything, so I am here to learn.
Well I have little knowledge I can help you with. How much are you looking to spend? You really don't need a ton of money to get a good system (unless you're looking to really THUMP), but it doesn't look like you're going to be installing this yourself. I'd honestly go down to one of the smaller car audio places (not the huge chain stores) and talk with them to see how kind of set up you would need to get the audio you want.
Lots of the newer high end car's run Infinity or Bose speakers which are normally very good, but expensive. You could probably get a better value out of some Polk, Kenwood, or Blaupunkt mids, 6x9's and tweaters. I'm not sure if you want bass or not, but the mids can usually handle a decent amount of bass so you won't need a subwoofer or amp unless you've got a very demanding set up of speakers. The more speakers you start setting up, the more energy you'll need to keep them going.
I've always been a fan of Pioneer decks, but Kenwood and Sony make pretty good ones too. Only audiophiles can really tell the difference, but I think it's all in their head anyway.
Good luck, I hope I was helpful in some way.

One word- Dynamat. Some good sound deadening material, particularly in the doors, goes a long way. Expensive speakers are overrated, especially in a noisy environment like a car. I say get some good 2 or 3 way speakers and a small subwoofer. Limit the amount of bass going to the 2/3 ways, and make up for it with the subwoofer.
This describes the system in my Insight, and I'm very happy with it. It is loud enough, but not obnoxiously loud.
