Today I used my Goodyear road hazard protection plan again. This time I was 20 miles from home and had a flat. Called Goodyear and they used AAA for road service. Fast service and my spare was changed in minutes. It was over 90F with high humidity and I was glad I had the plan. It cost $12 for each stock tire for the plan, and this is the second time I've used it. The first time, Goodyear replaced a Eco-Plus with sidewall damage. After waiting two weeks and driving on my donut, I decided to buy a FEH stock rim and spare Eco-Plus tire. It paid off today and I feel much safer and my FEH doesn't look like a POS driving down the road with that donut.
I'll drop off the tire in the morning and let Goodyear fix or replace what will most likely be my spare now. If a new tire needs to be ordered, I"ll have them put the donut back till I get things replaced.

If I may ask, what did the protection plan cost?

Sorry...apparently I'm blind. I don't know what the heck my problem is lately :( .
Clearly the $12 per tire was a good deal!

When it came time to rotate the tires, I checked with other companies that didn't offer hazard protection on stock tires. They recommended Goodyear. Goodyear has a minimum fee, but I had to pay $12 or 10% per tire. I added the new tire, so I paid a total of $12 X 5 for all of them which was $60 plus tax. The stock rim added ~$400 for a real spare, but I feel much better driving my vehicle anywhere.

The 5th wheel will sorta pay for itself with proper rotation - so it's a bonus for treadlife of the set . Glad for that plan aren't ya? I wouldn't want to do a roadside tire change in *any* weather !

The tire company I had used for years stopped offering protection on factory tires they didn't sell. Time to change tire companies I said and glad I did. I don't care for Goodyear tires because of what people say - " there only good for a good year"!
I'm glad things worked out and the patched tire is now my spare. I run 50psi in all my tires and would not feel good with a patched tire with that pressure. The extra stock rim was the big expense, but I look at it as an investment.
Back to Hypermiling the same day!

Did they just plug it or was it plugged *and* internally patched? If both were done - 50psi would be do-able .

MnFocus, I don't trust any repair job any tire repairman does. If the tire doesn't hold pressure, I'll bring it back for replacement. I've never heard of them doing a patch and a plug, but I didn't ask.

Actually, patch + plug is evidently industry-standard these
days. Probably for precisely the reason that the pressure is
likely to be higher in a modern tire and the internal patch
tends to self-seal better. Of course that involves busting the
tire off the rim, but these shops totally think nothing of that.
Downside is that they're a little cavalier and rough with beads
and rims sometimes, but you get a better hole repair..
