I did the forum search and didn't come up with any info on this 2300 L-X® fuel additive from Lubrication Engineers, a fairly well respected lube product company. Any thoughts on LE 2300 L-X ? Thanks.

Any thoughts on LE 2300 L-X ? Thanks. tbaleno 08-10-2007, 01:50 PM It is probably junk. So far all "fuel addtives" and gimicks we have tested to increase fuel economy does nothing but offer a placebo affect if anything. c0da 08-10-2007, 02:02 PM I've seen lots of fuel additives and I have never seen one fully prove that it could do what it advertised. Sometimes fuel cleaners can help if your car is only a few years old, but on older models it will totally screw up your engine removing grime that was probably keeping a crack patched. GreyBrick 08-10-2007, 04:03 PM Thanks fellows. I'm not associated with Lube Engineers in any way but am interested in their oil products for my vehicle, happened to spot their fuel additive and claims and wondered if any had tried it. I'm not sure that all fuel additives / fuel delivered friction modifiers are junk in terms of economy given that some oil companies add modifiers to their gasoline blends, from Eneos/Nippon Oil Corp of Japan is one which makes economy claims for example. Hydroxyamine based friction modifiers are the ones I most often see as claimed to be added to fuels by oil companies in varying amounts, and I don't know if most or any 'off the shelf' fuel additives include hydroxyamine's or similar but there could well be some friction modifiers which give excellent results but are considered too expensive to be added by companies. In any case my understanding is that the fuel delivered friction modifiers only give a slight friction reduction benefit in the piston ring area. Friction modifiers are part of the normal additive package in most motor oils. tbaleno 08-10-2007, 04:07 PM So why add them if lots of fuels and oils already have them? Basicly like I said before, nothing has been proven to work. If a manufacturer wants us to test their product they can send a sample, but so far nothing has helped in any significant or measurable way. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2013, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
