Hi All:
___It looks like the new 08 FE numbers are coming out in force vs. the older 07 EPA test cycles. These are the actuals vs. the guesstimates the EPA has been posting over the last few months. Here are a few of the latest Toyota’s and a Ford Ranger anyway …
08 TCH: 33/34 City/Highway vs. old 40/38
08 Camry Auto or Stick: 21/31 City/Highway vs. old 25/34 and 24/34 respectively
08 Corolla w/ a stick: 28/37 City/Highway vs. old 32/41
08 Ranger w/ a stick: 21/26 City/Highway vs. old 24/29

Wow. Someone must have REALLY abused that TCH to crush the city number down below the highway number like that!!!

Wouldn't it be great if they showed BOTH the old and the new EPA data on the stickers. Captioned "Drive like an idiot, get the new numbers, drive sensibly, get the old numbers". So people could see the effect of driving aggressively and fast. This would never happen of course...

another thing that should, but wont happen -
post the mileage logs here (or even just the www. link) next to the EPA sticker to show that the EPA is not the FE ceiling :)

Yikes! The worst I ever got in the Ranger 2.3 stick was 26 on a tank that had a lot of offroad wood hauling and spinning/sticking in the mud .....
People must be really bad drivers.
ouch, all of them took really big hits. They must have found every lead-foot they could find to run these figures.

My Tacoma went from 20/27 to 18/25. My worst tank in the dead of winter and 5F morning drives is 25.1, mostly city.

*Before* I started hypermiling I was getting better than that on my Corolla (combo city and highway miles). I like both figures on there and the idiot comment. ;-)

Wow, how much abuse do you have to put the TCH through to get the mileage down that low?
Are there numbers for the Prius? That's one I'm really curious about.
Hi CountDrakul:
___Maybe another month or two? Expect to see around 44 - 46 combined vs. the 55.5 combined now. Not sure about actual city/highway but the guesstimates per the EPA are 48/45 right now? Lots of rumors and no facts.
___And you are 100% correct about the TCH. You could probably tow a boat with one and still get better mileage then what Toyota tested per the new EPA specs!

Their numbers are getting more realistic for typical drivers, although still not quite there!!
