DUMB! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

The Altima Hybrid will be available in eight states. The vehicle has been certified to meet California emissions requirements and will be sold beginning in early 2007 in those states that have adopted California emissions regulations: California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine and New Jersey. These states are among the strongest markets for hybrid vehicles.

nissan sure doesn't believe in hybrids, they just don't want to lose a lot of money on it. They believe CVT's are a better investment than hybrids when it comes to efficency.

Hi Sledge:

___With Ghson’s half hearted response towards hybrids in general over the past 2 or 3 years, I can almost bet that the Altima Hybrid has had minimal investment thrown its way. Given what happened with the Versa’s EPA downgrade recently, I have a bad feeling that this may be one of Nissan’s lesser efforts and they simply wanted to control the $ hemorrhage to the clean states alone?

___Phil, the CVT does nothing to add vs. a stick for example. The smallish Murano w/ its 3.5 and CVT has a 20/25 rating which doesn’t excite me that much? Nissan had better at least sit down at the higher FE table or there won’t be anything left but crumbs.

___Good Luck
