If you read the Ford Escape Hybrid Yahoo group, you know me already. And while I'm fairly new on GreenHybrid.com, you may also know me from there.

If not, here's a repost of my "Intro" thread on GH:
Shannon, here. Geek gal. Married. Web developer/programmer/photographer/Jill of all trades, master of none.

New hybrid owner, after 14 (trouble-free, wonderful) years with a 1992 Toyota Corolla, which we still own.

I've been lurking here for a month or so, and actively posting on the hybrid_ford_escape Yahoo group.

On March 6, 2006, my husband and I purchased our 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid (Front-Wheel Drive). Her name (yes, our FEH has a name (http://geekhabitat.com/552/of-names-and-numbers/)!) is Kira Nerys because, like her namesake in Star Trek: Deep Space 9, she's passionate, athletic, self-assured, dependable and perhaps a little misunderstood. She is definitely more than meets the eye. She’s “got your back” in any crisis, and she holds firm convictions. ;)

What can I say, I'm a geek. And I love, love, love my Ford Escape Hybrid. 1,800 miles and I just hit my best FE thus far (http://geekhabitat.com/572/gloat-gloat-gloat/) -- 36.2mpg. I'm still "green behind the ears" and learning to drive for better fuel economy.

P.S. Since that posting, my last tank average MPG (tank #6 since taking ownership) was 34.1mpg, and my highest avg. mpg has risen to 37.2mpg (and I can go higher; I've been sick the past couple days and not driving with FE in mind... just trying to get out, get done, and get back home to curl up.)

Welcome to CleanMPG!

By the way, Dallas got a good rain. Did San Antonio? Sure beats the 101F day last Tuesday.

AGREED! Don't know what the official rainfall here at San Antonio International Airport was, but from the duration and intensity I think we at least got an inch. And the lightning show was phenomenal -- if it hadn't been for hail risk, I'd have been inclined to take my FEH out and do some photography with her lit up by lightning. ;-)

yay anohter suv convert too! hope you'll break the 60 mpg barrier soon enough, if anything driving like a hypermilier is more relaxing imo because you just have to sit and watch as your car roll ;)

erm suv welcome!

So glad you join Shannon, this is a group of honest, smart geeks like yourself. All that have responded except phillip (the Vet) own other model cars and hybrids. Most came from GH and are truely interested in FE because they have the bug like me. Everyone in my household has asthma except me, but I feel the air must get cleaner for everyone's future.

The family stayed in San Antonio and love the River Walk, caverns and river rapids. The Tex-mex made me not want to leave.

Please, don't let my mileage compare to a working girl or man. My disability let's me drive any way I want most of the time.

Your on the move with your MPG, and if you want to email me about the FWD FEH, I will tell you what I know. You go girl!

Hi Shannon:

___Welcome indeed! I thought I was speaking to a male over at the YaHoo FEH group! Sorry about that.

___Boy I cannot wait until you start using everything you have learned both over in the YaHoo group and here and begin busting out 40 and then 50 + mpg tanks. Just don’t let your husband drive your FEH until he has been through your own Hypermiler orientation and boot camp ;)

___If you haven’t had the opportunity to read Gary’s FEH Hypermiling article (I am sure you have already) enjoy it because it’s a good one!

___Good Luck

___Wayne
