View Full Version : Hybridfest Attendees heading home … Most safe and sound.
Hi All:
___Just a quick note. Larry (DiamondLarry) called and said he made it home with no problems. I got a hold of Randall (Highwater) and he was half way between Kansas City and Blackwell, OK. about 09:30 PM CST so he should be home soon. Bill (Billy6) made it back a few hours ago. Chuck (Delta Flyer) made it back of course but every time I tried to call Dan (Dan), someone picked up on the Cel saying no Dan here? Strange knowing I have contacted him on that same number earlier. Hobbit (Hobbit) should be in downstate IN. but have not heard from him. Jim’s (JimboK) whereabouts are unknown at this time and Bob (RHWinger) called me earlier in the evening saying his flight arrived somewhat on time so that was good to hear. Rich (Pravus Prime) should be home but I have not heard back from him yet either?
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Chuck 07-23-2007, 11:58 PM Dan is likely working late so he and his wife can get time off for Mexico starting this Wednesday. He left Lewisville at 2pm, so that puts him in Spring on the near side of Houston at 6pm.
Hi All:
___I received a PM from Rich (Pravus Prime) and he said he arrived home just fine. I saw JimboK’s name pop up on the forum a few minutes ago so he must be good to go as well! I wonder how Hobbit is doing?
___Good Luck
___Wayne
JimboK 07-24-2007, 06:49 AM I'm here. In Kentucky, that is. Last night's campground was tucked back in the hills of eastern Kentucky beyond the Sprint system's footprint. More in my thread (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/the-daily-grind/t-and-so-the-trek-to-hybridfest-begins-page3-5477.html#post37580).
Thanks for "checking" on me. :)
highwater 07-24-2007, 07:36 AM Made it, no problems.
As I shut the phone after talking to Wayne, I thought;.......particularly after being to the reunion.................man, we've really got a nice community here.:Banane48:

Made it safe and sound.
Work at 8pm, Home at 10pm.
Don't know what was up with the cell, but could have had it forward on failure to some odd-ball spot that.

Fenrir 07-24-2007, 11:43 AM As I shut the phone after talking to Wayne, I thought;.......particularly after being to the reunion.................man, we've really got a nice community here.:Banane48:You can say that again. I'm so glad to have gotten to meet some of you in person. Wish I could've met everyone, and had more time to schmooze. We had a great MIMA conference with five of us and some brews. I met 3 Insight owners who are in my neck of the woods (don't think any of them are registered here- need to change that). I don't think the smile left my face until Monday morning. I had an absolute blast :Banane54: I spent a great deal of time outside talking to the other owners and many interested members of the public (note to self: bring sunblock next year ;) ). My decision to go this year was last minute, but it won't be next time (can I register now?!?). I met my family last weekend.
Thanks, everyone.
By the way, Randall, I'd love to get a copy of the photo you took of me next to my car, if it came out well.
bradlee 07-24-2007, 11:54 AM Just a short note that Billy called me yesterday ar about 11am (our time) (9am his time)and said he was about 4 hours out from home. That would have put him at about 14 hours out from HF since he left the banquet about 7:30pm.
He said he had been "pushing it doing 65mph and was still clocking around 90 mpg. It'll be interesting waht our MPG Champion got on the way home. He clocked 107 mpg coming to Madison. I hope he chimes in soon.
Lastly, I want to say what a pleasure and privilage it was to meet everyone at HF and I'm sorry I didn't get to schmooze with you all of you more, kinda busy.

tbaleno 07-24-2007, 12:54 PM Fenrir, I suspect registration won't open for a few months since they probably have to get quotes for a lot of things and won't be able to commit to the registration cost until they have an idea how much it has to be. Eric will be able to say for sure.
You can bet though that as soon as eric tells me registration is open I'm going to put a link to their registration page in the header again. Well, after I register. My goal next year is to be the first registered. I think I was number 2 or something this year ;)
Humm. Maybe cleanmpg can help promote greenhybrid and nudge people to register early by offering a small gift to the first 20 registrants.... I'll have to think about that and talk to eric and have him talk to the commitee.
highwater 07-24-2007, 01:45 PM By the way, Randall, I'd love to get a copy of the photo you took of me next to my car, if it came out well.
Check your PM.

msirach 07-25-2007, 04:56 AM I wish this was my final post here.
4:50 a.m. here Minn, MN. Pri is packed to the proverbial gills with our luggage and product of 1.5 days at Mall of America. Time to roll for the 750 mile trip home.
hobbit 07-25-2007, 07:57 AM Still on the road, posting from Steve's spare desk at Autobeyours.
See the other thread (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/general/t-t-page6-5484.html) for updates, since I've been dropping
them there..

IMAhybrid 07-26-2007, 05:09 PM I'm back in rainy Florida today. I had a great time. Hope to see everyone again next year.

Coasted into the driveway at about 8pm last night with 741 on the trip meter.
Ended up with 54.1 mpg on the Scangauge. I was hoping to hit 60, but NOT with my wife and two 14 yr. old girls in the car. It was max AC with P&G. Another contributing factor was the cargo: #1 Pullman @ 64lbs. I asked my daughter if it had her boyfriend in it. #2 was my wifes at ONLY 38 lbs, daughter's friend was 27lbs. mine was a paltry 21 lbs. 2 laptops at 21 lbs.
Also was 2.5 days worth of "prizes" for shopping downtown Madison and the Mall of America.
I tooks pics of the cargo I will post later.
TheForce 07-26-2007, 08:01 PM I'm back and will start posting my pictures and videos over the next few weeks.
BlueBulletIP 07-26-2007, 09:46 PM Yes, we do have a great community. Too bad we can't all get together more than once a year. Anybody for regional hybridfests?
JimboK 07-27-2007, 10:09 AM Yes, we do have a great community. Too bad we can't all get together more than once a year. Anybody for regional hybridfests?
For self-serving reasons I like that, but there is a downside. I know from experience with other organizations who schedule events across the country that folks will pick and choose. Regional events may pull people -- participants and sponsors -- away from the bigger one. Keep the regional events small, maintain the attraction of the main event, and you should be OK.
tbaleno 07-27-2007, 10:25 AM Maybe start a hybrid or milage fanatic group in your area?
hobbit 07-27-2007, 06:34 PM Enthusiast/aficionado/advocate, please. Not "fanatic".
Like the perversion that happened to the original spirit
of the word "hacker", the press is going to seize upon
anything that can be interpreted sensationally and maybe
it's time to start being careful about that. Not our
choice for the most part, but you can take a little solace
in thinking of it like dumbing the concept down to a level
everyone can understand instead of simply being repressed..
