View Full Version : Links from signatures to mileage logs

Hey Tom--

Often when strolling through the forums I see someone with especially impressive FE data in their signature that I'd like to investigate more (e.g., how they do in winter vs. summer, improvements over time) so I can compare my progress. Is there anyway that those signature images could automatically link directly to tank data? I did it manually myself, and it's not hard to figure out (highlight the entire image code and click "insert link"), but I suspect many won't go to the same trouble.

Anyone else like to see this feature? --RN

That is a good point.

However my current beef has to do with the amount of text we're allowed to sport in the signature.

In fact, by hot linking the pictures to the graph page (as I am currently doing), I am only allowed to have two (2) vehicle entries. A third or forth entry are hopelessly dropped.

Is there an easy way to increase the allowed signature character count (Tom, Wayne )? ;)

Cheers;

The feature does not exist to automaticaly link the signature image to the database logs. It could probably be written. I'll see what I can do.

I think there is a 255 character limit in parsing html. So I don't think with the way the software is coded it is possible to increase it.

HCHCIN's signature links to the mileage database, and so does MSantos. But Tom's and my sigs don't seem to. Is this something each of us can adjust somehow?

Yes, that limitation is a major bummer as it forces us to choose between hot-linking the picture to the page with a maximum of two signatures... or have more than two signatures without any hot-linking.

The funny thing Tom is that I do manage to hot-link the signature pictures for 3 and more cars in other forums running the same software. It just does not work here. Any clues ?

Tarabell--

First, go to the mileage database page for your car, and copy the URL from the address field.

Then, go to the Edit Signature page of your User Control Panel. Highlight the entire code for the signature graphic (should be enclosed by [img] tags). Click the Insert Link button (looks like a globe with a couple of links of chain) and paste the database address into the box that pops up. Click OK and then save your signature.

Did that do the trick? --RN

How do you get the "6mo 3mo 1mo AllTime" data into your signature? Nevermind, I figured it out.
