Reminds me to bring the sound bite of the original Enterprise with the enormous transmission hum shaking at Warp 9 where Scotty pleads for Capt Kirk to back off. :D

For those that don't know - Tom Paris customized a shuttle in Star Trek: Voyager and named it after a hot rod - Delta Flyer. I took it full circile when I bought a hybrid that had a dashboard that reminded me of....Star Trek. :)

That's what I need - Trek sound effects:

air sounds when the doors open
the defening transmission hum when the Assist engages
Scotty pleading to back off when I redline
When I recal: "Resistance is futile" :D :( :eek::eek::eek:

Or how about Kirk saying: "Impulse power, Mr Sulu" during assist? ;-)

Or how about this? You could have a scrolling message for tailgaters that say's something like, "Proximity alarm has been activated. Photon torpedos are locked on and armed." The guy told me that the decals cost ~$360 and they are vinyl.

All sound effects suggested so far, plus I like "we're dropping out of warp, captain!" for decelerating through 41 MPH. :D

Locutus, for your Prius you'd need something that can detect any nearby SUVs and your car will say "Resistance is futile" :D

2) Hack up a way to play tack X, Y, or Z on a signal from CanView.
3) Drive the signal from CanView when speed > 42 mph and RPM < 1000
4) The signal it drives plays "Warp Drive".

So whenever you get a Warp Stealth segment, you get the "Warp Drive" sound effect. Ohh it must be done! I think TheForce has the wares already, and I know he's no stranger to Warp Stealth.

Well I have an idea on how it could be done. :D ;)

First we would have to get Norm's help in making a customized relay screen for us that don't have the batteries for the plugin Prius. This idea of mine would require the use of the relays that are on the CV. So you either have this sound option or plugin option. You cant have both.

The options for the relays would all be speed/stealth related. For an example if you are in stealth below 41mph it would trigger relay one. If you came out out of stealth below 41mph trigger relay two and keep doing that for each relay for other speeds and stealth parameters. This should all be customized by the user.

Now for the even harder part. The relay must trigger some kind of soundboard that would hold all your sound samples and play them when the appropriate relay was triggered. This could be done by a sound board of some kind or by a computer with some kind of interface.

I'm sure there is a hardware solution out there that will work with this idea and can be triggered by relays but I don't think Norm would want to program a custom screen just for a few people.

My idea patent pending. :p

Thanks. I worked very hard on them, and even learned my first Java Scripts.

The graphics were done at Upstate Signs in Kingston NY. They have all the templates. I am sure they could arrange to have them sent to a sign place to you. The cost for me was about $350. It would be less for you since there would be no setup charge. You have my permission to use all the graphics, but not the name Zhang Heng.

Sound effects are available to any Prius owner or similar vehicle who meets the following requirements:

1. Pass the Prius-class shuttlecraft certification examination (http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=39957&hl=shuttlecraft).

2. Name your vehicle appropriately. Astronomers, physicists, mathematicians, astronauts, and other scientists are preferred, unless you need to kiss the @$$ of some TV producer.

3. Some external sign of your commitment to Starfleet must be visible on your vehicle - bumper sticker, license plate frames, etc. are acceptable. Photo documentation is required.

Upon completion of these requirements, I will cend you a CD with the files to upgrade your shuttlecraft to Starfeet standards.

It would be most cool to have another shuttlecraft in circulation. We could do some car shows together.

There are no required upgrades other than the external visual evidence. All the stuff in the exam is just to see if you understand Starfleet protocol, AKA Treknobabble.

Perhaps my car ought to join the Road Squadron. With its aerodynamic mods, covered wheelwells, blacked out underpinnings, and 4 round red jet exhausts (taillights) in the boattail, it looks more like a Star Wars air vehicle or spacecraft than any of the vehicles listed in the Road Squadron. I would just need to add a few Star Wars specific decals to complete the look.

I'm always wondered if any hybrid owners have modified their cars with customized "engine noises". Since the electric engine is essentially silent, you can play back a custom prerecorded engine sound over the car's sound system during the ICE off phase.

Since you have RPM and MPH data in realtime, such a system can play back the appropriate sound based on the car's current speed or rpm.

I think there's a potentially huge market for hybrid owners who would want their cars to sound like spaceships, Harleys, V8 musclecars or steam locomotives.

Heck, why stop at vehicle sounds? Why the sound of an asthmatic jogger (sneakers on pavement, huffing and puffing)? Or the bionic man running sound? Or playing card clacking against bike spokes?
