View Full Version : idea for bumper sticker?
HAFNHAF 06-21-2007, 11:02 PM i saw a tagline that said:
All those in favor of better gas mileage, please raise your right foot.
any chance of that?
WriConsult 06-22-2007, 12:58 AM Nice one.
The one I'd think about printing up (because it sums up what I've found to be my biggest single hypermiling gain) would say:
The light's red. What's your hurry?
HAFNHAF 06-22-2007, 10:03 AM good one too!
how about one for my pet peeve:
merge NOW, a**h***!
i hate those idiots that cause mile-long back-ups because they HAVE to get to the front of the line where lanes merge down on a highway. there is NO reason for those traffic jams except their selfishness.
oh well, they would be going by too fast to read it anyway!
johnf514 06-22-2007, 10:10 AM MPG is the new HP.
:D
laurieaw 06-22-2007, 10:47 AM my plate frame reads:
HYBRID MATH - 55MPH=55MG
which isn't true, since i am getting over 60 in the summer :D
FocusGuy77 06-24-2007, 12:31 AM My wife thought I was clever with, "Hypermilers make it last longer"
desdemona 08-05-2007, 04:26 PM 55 MPG, Not only a good idea but it used to be the law.
On second thought if you had something like that on your car in the SW it would probably be grounds
for shotgun violence.

:D:D:D:D
SpartyBrutus 08-05-2007, 09:03 PM my car runs on minimum wage
lightfoot 08-06-2007, 07:11 AM or "my car runs on minimum rage"
(The Onion did a piece a while back on anger-fueled vehicles, which was posted here)
HyChi 08-06-2007, 11:08 AM My bumper sticker will read:
Support Our Troops
Fight Terrorism
Save Fuel, Go Hybrid!
madman 08-06-2007, 11:23 AM Caution: Hypermiling In Progress
Please Stay Back
tbaleno 08-06-2007, 11:35 AM I did have a caution bumpersticker, but apparantly according to the printing company "caution" was trademarked (yeah right!) So I think there is one that says "warning" or something like that.
WriConsult 08-06-2007, 01:21 PM I did have a caution bumpersticker, but apparantly according to the printing company "caution" was trademarked (yeah right!)I wouldn't rule it out. After all, the song "Happy Birthday to You" is copyrighted:
http://www.snopes.com/music/songs/birthday.asp
The copyright specifically does allow private performances of the song at gatherings attended by family members, so you're OK when you sing it at a birthday party. At home. But not in public. Under TimeWarner's copyright, royalties may be charged not only for commercial performances (from which they derive $2M per year) -- but also for performances where the general public is gathered. I just learned today that's why birthday celebrations at chain restaurants usually involve some crappy proprietary birthday song.
Back on topic:
A few years back a local advocacy group printed up a bunch of stickers with the words SLOW DOWN! in large type, with "School's in session" below in smaller type. I'd keep the first line of large type and add the following two lines in small type:
SLOW DOWN!
For the children
For the planet
Another one:
Try eco driving, not ego driving.
SpartyBrutus 08-06-2007, 01:51 PM Two on the same theme -
If you can read this
- Congradulations - you're not speeding
- Let me know when its my turn to draft you
tbaleno 08-06-2007, 02:05 PM Try eco driving, not ego driving.
Congradulations - you're not speeding
Let me know when its my turn to draft you
Are these all original? If so, I will happily put them on bumperstickers.
brucepick 08-06-2007, 02:50 PM If you print it,
"Congratulations" is with a "t", not a "d".
SpartyBrutus 08-06-2007, 03:31 PM yep, i think mine were origional (especially with a "d") :)
mparrish 08-06-2007, 04:04 PM "<== I found your lane right over here <=="
"Wave at the gas station kids"
"America is addicted to oil. - GWB 2/1/06"
"This car is Rosie the Riveter approved"
tbaleno 08-06-2007, 05:17 PM Heh. I always spell it wrong as well. I tend to have my wife spell check for me before I put stuff in print ;)
WriConsult 08-06-2007, 07:21 PM Try eco driving, not ego driving. As far as I'm aware.
brrneon 09-20-2007, 11:11 PM How about "I sip, you suck!"
I know probably not the nicest thing to say and some people might take it the wrong way, but its funny.
tbaleno 09-21-2007, 02:07 AM It is funny. My wife says that she likes bumper stickers that are less "confrontational." It would be good to get a couple of those created.
Also, it seems the confrontational/accusatory bumper stickers tend to make drivers more aggressive and harder to deal with when hypermiling.
For the kiddies out there:
Stay back, I've got gas!
johnf514 09-21-2007, 09:35 AM Here's a simple one:
MPG>MPH
SSixty 10-28-2007, 01:49 PM Watch out for the idiot behind me.
Dont follow me, I'm lost too.
They aren't mine so I won't take credit for them.
Skwyre7 10-29-2007, 02:38 PM ...They aren't mine so I won't take credit for them.
I didn't understand what this had to do with hypermiling. Then I slapped myself on the forehead. Maybe I should try to concentrate on fewer things at one time.
mparrish 11-04-2007, 10:17 AM Saw a good one yesterday:
"Are you making an appointment with St. Peter on that cell phone?"
hawkgt647 11-04-2007, 08:02 PM Taken from a TV show -
"Bin Laden hates this car"
Bike123 11-04-2007, 08:52 PM From a car at work:
Drive like hell. You'll get there.
tbm0115 11-07-2007, 07:49 PM I've got one:
I accept Jesus, but I don't think he accepts me.
I've told my friends that one, and most are religious, but they still thought it was hillarious.
laurieaw 11-07-2007, 08:17 PM one more?
would you tailgate YOUR grandmother?
lyekka 03-23-2008, 08:32 PM "Fighting terrorism one gallon at a time"
Jheff… 06-20-2008, 11:06 PM There are some really good ones in this thread. I would definitely get one.
LaneLester 06-21-2008, 08:28 AM Here's the one I just ordered from http://www.makestickers.com/

Kevin108 06-21-2008, 09:26 AM How about "I sip, you suck!"
AHAHAHAH!!! Yeah, not nice at all but VERY funny!
Fluxuated 06-21-2008, 09:30 AM Not meant to be taken seriously, but with all the HONKERS out there, how about this one?
http://www.va3hst.ca/images/Ahole.jpg
OR on a more serious note, I like this one. Can be adjusted to whatever Mileage you are getting.

I would feel better my self with a less confrontational message.
Here is the ones I like so far.
HAFNHAF:
All those in favor of better gas mileage, please raise your right foot.
FocusGuy77:
Hypermilers make it last longer
SpartyBrutus:
my car runs on minimum wage
madman:
Caution: Hypermiling In Progress

LaneLester
Driving sow to save gas - Not just because I'm a Gezzer
And thanks to LaneLester for the link on getting one made!

Lane
I'm thinking of having one of these made.
keep the good ideas coming!!
HemiSync 06-21-2008, 10:29 AM I have seen several hybrid and gas saving ones at cafepress.com
The one I was really impressed with but would never have the courage to put on my car is:
HUMMER
Soldiers dying in theirs, so you can drive yours!
Yea I know, way to confrontational!
ikea4532 07-09-2008, 12:30 PM OR on a more serious note, I like this one. Can be adjusted to whatever Mileage you are getting.
http://www.va3hst.ca/images/40MPG.JPG
I would like mine to read 47+ TYVM!!
atlaw4u 07-09-2008, 01:17 PM http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/500/100_mpg.jpg
I have noticed since I put on this sticker I get fewer aggressive drivers tailgating me. Maybe they just assume I can't go any faster.
ikea4532 07-09-2008, 01:59 PM I love the subtle picture/parking you got going on there!
MooingLizard 07-09-2008, 11:37 PM I love the subtle picture/parking you got going on there!
That's the first thing I saw. Great photo juxtaposition!
