I noticed the GH-style mileage signature box you've been sporting for a little while. Did you photoshop that or is it linked to a secret cleanmpg mileage database? I like the look, and definitely like the comparison to your car's EPA rating. If that were standard forum equipment I wouldn't complain. :D

My guess is that it is part of his master plan.... Increase your FE by 10% and you get a flashy new sig.

Ok...I'll bite... what's the starting point / baseline (10% above lmpg, tank-to-tank, or above mfr estimates, or ?), and at what point do we start measuring ? I've been improving my own, but part of that is due to break-in and climate. But if it's a 'straight 10% tank to tank', I'm practically there, if you look at my tanks on GH.

Two asides...

a) it'd be nice to have one of those here, as I'm early in the lmpg on this car, and it wouldn't take much to repost those here.

b) I like Tom's sig better than the other one that krousdb is sporting, if we're allowed to 'vote'....:p

maybe using Xcel's old 'valedictorian' criteria? Wasn't that 120% of EPA combined for 5 tanks' worth?

___Enter in your tank data in the CleanMPG Mileage DBase and you can have a real sig too … I will expect to see you data up within a day or two for our sig vs. other’s if you know what I mean ;)

___Tom could always create a simple template for overrides but its best to input real data and use it in your hosts sig with accuracy.

Need the 3 cars I added that don't have the name 'Aoko' deleted from the db. I tried to, via the 'mark for deletion' box, but it keeps adding cars.

Note on data entry - when you add the 'car name', and then select the car year / make / model, it resets the name to the user's default - you might want to see if you can fix that, or, place the 'car name' after the 'pick your vehicle' section. That's how I messed up in the first place - I didn't notice the car name had changed before I submitted the record.

Appreciate you adding this feature, btw...many props! :)

I got my tanks in, just need to see if I got them right. For some reason the DB's math doesn't quite jibe with my own math. Miles and gallons seem to add up funny. My spreasheet and the GH database put me at 30.77mpg, this one puts me at 30.66mpg or so. I also get a strange "divided by zero" type error when I view the DB while logged in. Strangely, that goes away when I'm not logged in. If I'm the only one who sees it I'll post a screenshot tonight.

I fixed a divide by zero error last night for entering multiple tanks. Is it related to that or is it different?

Mark, what version of windows and browser are you using? I don't seem to have the problem in linux using firefox, or at work using windows xp and IE 6.0 sp2

Try it now. I think it might have to do with you being such an early member of the site, some of the variables weren't set up for you automaticaly when you created your account. Let me know if it fixed your problem

Fixed! Now I still don't see the signature box but at least this is a step in the right direction! Some of us don't seem to have the fancy blocks generated for us when we view our vehicles.

I figured out what that math error was. I just had a duplicate tank in there that needed to be deleted. User error!

Looks like I'm going to be the guy w/ problems - I tried using the 'edit / delete' feature, and added 2 more cars - I *wish* I owned six Acuras... ::j/k::

Also, when I tried to add the first tank to the one car I intend to keep (Aoko), I got the following text in the browser screen when I clicked on both 'add only this tank' and 'I want to add more tanks' (yes, I entered data separately for each attempt):

-raise 1x1 /home/cleanmpg/public_html/garage/images/62.png /home/cleanmpg/public_html/garage/images/62.png
(all on one line)
I'll bet it has something to do with the multiple cars (?)

I'll hold off transferring the tank data for now. Too bad - I just posted a 57.3 mpg tank - my best yet - on the 'other site' :D

Okay. first, ignore the raise line. That was just debuging text I forgot to take out. Second I think I'm on to what the problem is. give me a day or so (probably a few hours) and I'll see if I can't fix it.

You should be able to delete your cars now. Let me know if more issues pop up.

I still have to work on the name getting reset when you change the car type using drop downs, but its on the list.

Tom - that change is good - I have now deleted the extraneous cars.

One thing you'll need to clean that up further - when you flag the car for 'delete', and then click the 'send' (submit) button, the following page loads:

However, since we're not 'inserting', but deleting, there's no record to post, so the page comes up blank. The more 'elegant' way would be to repost the main db page form, showing the owner's car at the top, with the break and the other people's cars - in other words, this page:

So this is your first try at this, eh ? Pretty good...pretty good. Debugging can get frustrating at times - but if you take the approach that it's like solving a puzzle - it can feel especially rewarding when you finally figure out a difficult problem :D

The reason it goes to a blank page is because the blank page is actualy a script. It's just that the script doesn't display anything. I guess I could put up something saying that your car was modified or something. Doesn't it automaticaly dump you to the main page after a second or two? It is supposed to do that.

I dont see an image when I look at my vehicle record. Just a red X. I figured out that my car is #57 so I copied your link, changed from 59 to 57 and changed the brackets. Still I get the red x. The first sig you see is my fake sig. Underneath is supposed to be the real sig but just the red x for now. I think it is a conspiracy. First, the dropdown list only goes to 1998. Now this. Are you guys trying to tell me something?

I'm in the same boat. On the other hand, I did manage to wrap [url] tags around my red box to make it link to my gaslog :)

Here's the code if anybody wants an easy cut&paste. Just replace my car number 56 with your own in both places and remove the two spaces in [/IMG ] and [/URL ] that I placed there to break it for viewing.

hmm. sumptin' ain't right with the figgerin' to get your data into a image in the first place. dunno- I'm a hardware guy for a reason.

Wohoo! Tbaleno, did you do it or did I do it? I just made a small change to my database and it worked.

I went into my gaslog and started looking for things that might confuse it. I found that in only one tank I used an entry of "10" for average trip length. I reset that value to the default, saved, and my mileage signature magically popped up!

I did "stuff". You were such an old user some of the stuff that is automaticaly set up for new users wasn't set up for you. I had to add that to your profile.

I'll take a look at it when I get home.

I added my Silk Shorts and that one works. My guess is that if you can't pick your car via the pull down menus, the sig won't work.

Might have another one for you, Tom. Started adding tanks tonight, and noticed that I can't add more than 5 tanks under a 'non-default' profile (strategy).

Looked at the others with multiple tanks entered and saw they had just used the 'default' - I don't know if that has something to do with it ?

I tried multiple tanks (7 or 8) and I'm not seeing the problem.

Well, I think I found another database "easter egg" for you. I entered a tank this evening and it showed up just fine. I then went to edit it to add a note, at which point I saved it. But now the tank doesn't show up in the database for some reason. I know that it's in there somewhere because the improvement in my LMPG is reflected in the calculation for my sig. Kinda strange. I guess I shouldn't complain because it wasn't that great of a tank, anyway ;)

It looks like there is a bug in updating tanks. I'm looking into it.

I have no doubt you'll squash it. If it makes you feel any better I know how aggravating it is to debug software. I've spent many an hour doing the same thing at the office. Your dedication is tremendously appreciated!

I just realized a couple of my tanks also disappeared, probably when I edited them a few days ago. I added them back in, but my signature still doesn't seem to appear in the tank.

I think I squished the bug. I'll look at your signature issue tarabell.

Mine still appears to be screwed up for some reason. When I add up all of the miles and gallons that I can see in my tank log I get 12125.9mi, 394.222gal, which is what it was before I added my last tank. But the total mileage calculation is using the correct data, which is 12619.4mi and 407.611gal. So the data exists somewhere in the database but isn't being displayed in the tank log.

try adding a tank with 0 miles and 0 gallons. Then deleting it and see if the signature updates properly

I added a tank with 0 miles and 0 gallons and the sig stayed the same, and the missing tank didn't show up. Just for kicks I went back and edited that test tank to add a note and it went though just fine.

Okay, When I get home, I'm going to adjust your car so the miles in the logs match the car. It looks like you will be missing one tank so you will have to re-add it. Apparantly a tank got deleted but the totals for the car were not updated to reflect this.

wowsers, signature works!

Um, sorry to break you streak of 12 hours of bug free signatures, but mine just broke again. Last night when I added my last tank, the signature updated to 55 and change. Today it is back to 54 and change, although the mileage log shows the correct 55+ number.

Looks like another bug to squish!

Huh? Where. When I look at my posts, all the sigs are at 54. Maybe I have a bad cookie?

EDIT: The sig should 55.341 MPG. The sig just below this line shows 54.63 MPG. Correct?

EDIT Again: Now it shows correctly.

After the last post it was wrong. After the first edit it it started working.
