... a Honda sales exec has confirmed that beginning in mid-2009, a new hybrid will be launched.

Production is expected to be around 200,000 per year, which is a substantial sum considering that Toyota's popular Prius sold 186,000 units across the globe in 2006. The pricing of the yet-to-be-named Honda hybrid is planned to be below the current Civic hybrid and styling will supposedly be heavily influenced by the Remix concept that debuted in LA last November.

Hi Sledge:

___I know about the 200,000 and a previously rumored $16,000 - $18,000 price tag but I have never seen any renditions. I think Honda is dreaming for 200,000 in sales for an all new model given Honda had also hoped to sell 50K HCH-II’s and only ~ 30K were sold for 06. I also thought Honda was going to pursue a smaller B-Class sized compact 4 door hybrid sedan which makes me think that Honda would use the Asian City/Aria platform for hybridization. It is time for the next gen Fit/Jazz/City/Aria anyway so inserting a hybrid drivetrain into the new model sounds like the timing is right anyway?

___Good Luck

If this new hybrid turns out to be a slightly larger Insight, I would consider buying it :)

Hi Sledge:

___I hope they make it a 4 door like the Civic. 2-seaters selling 200K per year? I do not believe I have ever seen that?

Wish someone had the sales figures for the CRX. It was probably good, but not that good.

I really like the style of the Remix and will renounce my Prius III purchase for this if the price and MPG is right. I'm hoping for a 4 door as well, but if it looks exactly what the Remix looks like I won't make a fuss. :Banane27:
