View Full Version : Hybrid Batteries
Pravus Prime 05-01-2007, 03:03 AM LOL, Rayovac batteries have a new Rechargable NiMH battery out, called Hybrid Batteries, which they're advertising.

I actually bought some myself, and they seem pretty good. I had some rechargables ages ago, which while they lasted 100 charges or so, only lasted half as long. But it's kind of funny that my car, MP3 player, and Remote Control Dalek all run on the same power technology essentially now. :D
Sledge 05-01-2007, 08:26 AM I have a bunch of their I3C batteries with the 15 minute charger. Still going strong :)
Remote Control Dalek
Did you watch the last two episodes (Daleks in Manhattan & Evolution of the Daleks)? Nothing says bad guy like a cyclops wearing a suit, wingtips, and an octopus hat :D :D :D

Heh, yeah. I can't help but question the idea that advancement involves leaving your flying, shielded, time travelling, thickly armored, particle weapon equipped tank shell for a pinstripe suit is an advancement.
Chuck 05-01-2007, 09:59 AM Now that I've read their site, I might try them as it sounds like it's not just another gimmick.

Yeah but considering there were only four left at the time, the flying, shielded, time travelling, thickly armored, particle weapon equipped tank shell thing didn't seem to be working out all that well :p

Duracell offers an NiMH AA rated at 2,650mAh and they are sold just about everywhere. The Rayovacs shown on their site are rated at just 2,100mAh and I've never seen them in a retail outlet.
You'd be surprised what you can do with 2,650mAh. For example, at work I supply a steady stream of these batteries for everything in the office from mice to remotes to older hand-held electronics. In the older days of rechargeables using them in a low-draw device like a wireless mouse would have totally sucked as they'd trickle dry in just 3 or 4 days, but these newer ones last as long as a month - on their first charge.
A note on charging: At both home and work I use Apex USB chargers plugged into small, portable, fold-able solar panels. Every one of the AA and AAA batteries at both home and work are running purely on solar energy.

"...and we would've gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!". Sorry, I had a Scooby Doo moment. ;)
