Although $3 a gallon gas is not as shocking, it will still reduce discretionary income and dampen the economy.
There is the pessimistic notion that this is not going to go away and that’s going to have a more lasting impact on driving habits and behavior, I suspect, than we’ve seen so far
Reading on, it sounds like there will be some glum acceptance, some change in driving habits.

There is No-Doubt at all that the price $$$.$$ of Gas is effecting Spending of the Consumer. The employees that I work with are not spending near what they used to for other (Wants) and not the necessary things you need. No-Raises for Yrs. now and the Cost of Living going up daily. Gas being one of the formost concerns to the working person. Yes, Fuel in the form of Gas for the vehicle, Natural Gas for the Home, and most recent here, Electric, because of the increased cost of running the Huge Generators that supply the Power to the Home.
Add to this the ever increasing (Cost) of Health Care and Insurance Coverage.
Hi Chuck:
___No doubt that it is! When an SUV or long distance hybrid driver used to spend between $20 and $30/week back in 03 and are now spending upwards of $60.00 + today driving the same distance, that $30 - $40 has to come from somewhere? Add in the rise of NG heating as well as distribution costs for every day food and consumable items we all take for granted and it is having a more serious impact on our local economies then just ones gas expenditure :(
___Good Luck
