Chuck 04-24-2007, 08:50 AM I'm going to lean for an earlier clinic, since Dan and I have 1300 and 1100 miles to return home.
FireEngineer 04-24-2007, 09:00 AM Speaking to Eric, I thought that Sunday morning was also the time slot for car mods-EV buttons, block heaters, etc.

ericbecky 04-24-2007, 09:24 AM Great questions.
First I want to thank CleanMPG for helping coordinate getting the Hybridfest Sunday Morning Sessions together. We wouldn't be able to have them without their assistance.
The Sunday Morning Sessions can be as technical or non-technical as you guys want. I will provide the space (within reason), you, the members, get to determine the rest. It is a time for members to share their knowledge with others in a semiformal setting. We can begin at whatever time works, but noon seems an appropriate time to end. (people need to check out of the hotel, people need to eat, people need to leave, public portion of Hybridfest begins again at noon, etc.)
Who can attend the Hybridfest Sunday Morning Sessions?
Hybridfest members only. They are not open to the public.
Location of the Hybridfest Sunday Morning Sessions?
These sessions could be indoors or outdoors depending on what is needed by the presenter.
Time of the Hybridfest Sunday Morning Sessions?
As noted above all sessions will probably end by noon.
So what the heck will the Hybridfest Sunday Morning Sessions be about?
Again it's up to you. Discuss it here on CleanMPG if you have an idea for topic.
Here's one way this could work... Again this is just an idea.
For example, in room one there could be a short session about "How I converted my Prius to a PHEV " and maybe out in the parking lot at the same time is "Simple Prius Mods: turning off backup beeper, adjusting door locks, stiffening plate, etc".
Then maybe next hour (or half hour?) there are new sessions: indoors "Lessons from MPG events", outdoors "Insight MIMA explained", or "Ford Escape Hybrid Accessories", or "Installing a block heater".
Also fit in that morning will be "Driving Clinics" and maybe later, near the end of the morning, everyone gathers for a final moderated panel discussion before concluding at noon.
So, based on what I just made up, the imaginary schedule would look like this:
8:30am|9:00am|9:30am|10:00am|10:30am|11:00am|11:30am
Prius PHEV|---|Lessons from MPG Events|---|Topic 5|Moderated Panel|---
Simple Prius Mods|---|Insight MIMA Explained|---|Topic 6|XXXXX|XXXXX
Driving Clinics|Driving Clinics|Driving Clinics|Driving Clinics|Driving Clinics|XXXXX|XXXXX
Again, the above is just my made up idea. The actual topics and times are not yet determined.
We can discuss this more on this thread. If you have idea of something you want to present, let us know. We already have some ideas, but you may have some we have not thought of yet.
There is limited time and limited slots available, so we'll do our best to figure out what can be made available.
Hi Wayne:
___Tom let the cat out of the bag a little early is all. I am currently lining up drivers for clinics for the paid attendees of HF2007 that would be interested in eeking out a bit more for themselves or at least seeing how we do what we do. The roundtable and mods sessions will possibly be running in parallel and this is the time you and possibly Ken can perform an EBH install as well as quick mods (back up beep, 04/04 Prius II NAVI hack, uni-body stiffener etc.) can be performed like we were talking about at the ChiHG last month ;) I only started organizing the clinic portions first because there are so many individuals involved including some of the best FEH, Prius I/II, HCH, TCH, and Insight drivers available anywhere.
___Good Luck
___Wayne
tbaleno 04-24-2007, 01:41 PM The reason I made this post is there are going to be people involved in running some of the sessions, and there may be sessions they will want to participate in that they wont be running.
With this kind of planning we can get everyone involved to help organize the schedule so any overlaping of what they want to see/do and what they running don't conflict.
Anything listed at this point is just tentitive or just fluff to get the chart started. Nothing has been decided or locked down yet.
Pravus Prime 04-24-2007, 09:22 PM I'm going to lean for an earlier clinic, since Dan and I have 1300 and 1100 miles to return home.
I certainly don't mind a later clinic; I have less than half that to get back home.
FireEngineer 04-25-2007, 09:12 AM Sounds like a good plan. It looks like I might have at least 2 EBH installs already set. But at the same time I would like to attend the driving clinics, could always use some more hints.
Wayne
Hi Wayne:
___Boy did I want to do this all in private first …
___Would you mind doing the (2) EBH installs (w/ Ken’s help hopefully) and a 30-minute tech presentation on the Prius battery just like you performed at the MiHG last weekend? I spoke with Bradlee and he said it was an incredible presentation! I am only sorry I was working and missed it :(
___I will make some time for you to get a clinic but I doubt you will get nearly as much from one as some of the new attendees will ;)
___Good Luck
___Wayne
tbaleno 04-25-2007, 05:16 PM You know wayne, you could always close the thread and hide it until you are ready.
I just thought a dialog would be a good thing. And it seems people are allready talking about what they would like.
I think it would be bad if it were done behind the scenes and people later find out they can't see something they wanted to.
Hi Tom:
___I think it will bring about good discussion so I will leave it. I just wanted to lock down the clinic drivers and I still have not heard back from everybody yet is all :(
___Good Luck
___Wayne
Hi All:
___Still firming up a few things …
___Hobbit would be willing to give all the clinic instructors his 1-hour tech session for the Sunday morning presentation on Saturday afternoon/evening/night so that none of us would miss it. If Wayne is still willing to do his Battery presentation on Sunday for the attendees, he might perform a similar presentation for the clinic drivers on Saturday evening as well? These would be private sessions just for the clinic drivers so we can focus on the driving aspect from start to finish on Sunday morning.
___Jerad will be mapping out the 20 minute driving clinics once I find the darned map of the old FE challenge course. The clinics will be held in an area devoid of traffic for the most part so the newer drivers can concentrate on the instruction rather then having to worry about both the instruction and traffic. I think it is going to work out great given what we were discussing at the MaHG yesterday :D
___After the driving clinic, we will have a Round Table open for questions from A – Z and probably some we have not thought of yet. There is a very well-rounded list of individuals who will be seated to answer what may come out from the crowd and if we don’t know, we can always get back to the individual via E-Mail after HF2007 is completed. Other then that, there are some really neat items going on Saturday night w/ regards to Vid’s that I will let Eric announce when he is ready. I will help in taking care of the later portions of that activity as it currently stands.
___I am looking forward to not only HF2007 but the activities running in parallel that have not been announce yet. It will be a blast!
___Good Luck
___Wayne
hobbit 05-14-2007, 12:04 AM Crikey, I hope I can cram it all *into* an hour.
.
Xcel -- holler if you want me to dig up all my GPS logs from
HF last year -- I think they include the MPG run, and I
could squirt out a couple of gifs if you need 'em.

Hi Hobbit:
___Send whatever you have my way as I cannot find the jpg I thought Eric had sent to me after the event. Waynegerdes@CleanMPG.com should do it ;)
___Good Luck
___Wayne
FireEngineer 05-14-2007, 08:47 AM Have battery will travel. Saturday/Sunday just let me know where I can fit in to help. Remember I still have some engine block heaters to install Sunday morning too.
Wayne
Hi Wayne:
___Excellent! I will schedule your Pack presentation for Sunday morning just before Hobbits HSD presentation. I would like to add the EBH installs as a side presentation so that those interested can see how it is done. I am thinking about a presentation that will include EBH’s as a cold weather FE help. If I go with that, I will tie it with your battery and install(s) presentation on Sunday morning.
___On a different and even more interesting note ;) A friend of mine in Joliet told me he read your Hypermiling story in this weekends Herald News but I could not find it online. When you come across an online version, can you send me a link as I would like to post it as a News item as soon as it appears. It was the Herald News and not the Daily Herald, right? I searched both but did not find it :(
___Thanks again and Good Luck
___Wayne
Tochatihu 05-14-2007, 09:48 AM Is it correct that people are looking for maps of last years fuel economy run? I think I have copies somewhere.
DAS
Hi Doug:
___Yes I am in fact. I was going to drive up to Madison the week before to lock down a 20-minute clinic course on the less densely populated sections so drivers can pay attention to the excellent instructors rather then the worrying so much about public traffic coming from both directions. It is desolate in places and being early Sunday morning, it may be possible to not see another car other then all the hybrids in the clinics. Jerad said he would work on a clinic course from his end given he lives just outside of Madison but he needs last years map so as to choose the best locations for the start, turn around and finish spots for turnover to the next driver.
___Please send me what you have to Waynegerdes@CleanMPG.com no matter what you have.
___Good Luck and thanks in advance.

The article originally ran in the Daily Southtown on May 10, 2007. I believe Tony has linked it on the ChicagoPriusGroup.com site. It seems that all the local papers owned/affiliated with the Chicago SunTimes picked it up, including the SunTimes itself in this mornings edition. But I hear that my MPG "claim" is being challenged in the business editor offices of the SunTimes and I may receive a confirmation call sometime. Hey, just come for a ride at rush hour you editor guy's, some things are as they seem. Maybe they would be more impressed that I hypermiled my 2004 GM mini-van roundtrip between Chicago and Detroit at 30MPG, one tank of gas.

Hi All:
___I am finally locking down the list of Hypermilers to perform the driving clinics and oh my god what a list this is! Take a look at who will be taking the Hybridfest registered drivers out on clinics if they want them. There has never been a better group of fuel efficient drivers assembled in one place ever :D
Insight drivers will be assisted by Randall (Highwater), Bill Kinney (Billy) and Chuck (Delta_Flyer).
Prius drivers will be assisted by Jerad (Locutus), Justin (Citrus Insighter), Al (Hobbit) for an hour in the morning before his tech presentation, Jim (JimboK) and Dan (Dan).
HCH-II drivers will be assisted by Ed (Bear15) and Bob (Rhwinger).
FEH drivers will be assisted by Rich (Pravus Prime) and Debbie (DebbieKatz).
___I and possibly a few others who have yet to be tapped on the shoulder ;) will be assisting drivers with their TCH’s, HiHy’s, Prius-I’s, HCH-I’s and whatever else shows up! Anyone care to take an H2 out on a clinic
___The course layout will be in a relatively desolate area on the back side of the old FE challenge course and starting at a local Park where the base of operations will be located. I will try and be in two places at once so as to get the drivers to the park for their respective scheduled period. I can help those that do not quite make it on time or that may have not known about the clinic offerings until it was to late … Maybe after 02:00 in the afternoon or something when a few of us hold outs can help them out? I will press up the drivers tires before heading over so at least they have a chance to see some ridiculous numbers that you are all capable of ;)
___For those registered for Hybridfest, they can attend the Tech presentations given by Wayne (Fire Engineer) performing (2) Prius II EBH installs from ~ 08:00 - 09:00 AM with possibly Ken’s help and a Prius II Battery presentation w/ the pack from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Hobbit will be performing a detailed HSD presentation including the PSD and MG1 attached at 9:00 - 10:00 AM and again 11:00 - 12:00 AM. The Tech Presentations will be held either at the Clarion Hotel Conference area or the Alliant Center in one of the Conference/presentation areas.
___For the clinic drivers, Hobbit and Wayne have agreed to give a private presentation on Saturday evening before the movies so we do not miss out on anything ;)
___We were trying to fit in a Who’s Who - non-moderated Hybrid discussion roundtable around 11:30 AM but we probably do not have time to fit it in :(
___Good Luck
___Wayne
