To start,
I have not read any recent threads on "Enginer PHEV" for a couple of months in clean mpg forums. I have also read from a different forum "Prius Chat" that the Enginer BMS is (low end stuff) less than desireable. All in all from what I can gather the "kit" by Enginer for Prius is of low quality componets although some improvement/upgrades have been made. Hybrid Interface and Pacific EV have a sub BMS that can be used with good results however additional cost are required.
Therefore
I am considering doing my own PHEV DIY based on Phev eaa and PIS methods.
Battery pack (42 cell or 46 cell)LifePo4 3.2v 40ah with mini bms
Hybrid Interface BMS unit
Contactor based instead of dc-dc converter
Intial cost no labor around $6000.
