This tire seems like it may unseat the Latitude Tour as the ultimate tire for the FEH. Interesting excerpts:

Anticipating the need for a tire that does more for less, Michelin engineers were hard at work during the depths of the recent economic crisis to create a new standard in performance that could empower the family car to go farther and safer, while offering better fuel economy than ever imagined, all at a competitive price point.

It combines safety, longevity and fuel-efficiency in one high-performing tire, without having to sacrifice one performance for another.

In fact, the MICHELIN® Defender™ tire outlasts a leading competitor by up to 21,000 miles* and stops up to 31 feet shorter** than a leading competitor, helping drivers stay protected on the road.

Additionally, due to its low rolling resistance for better fuel-efficiency, the MICHELIN® Defender™ tire can help drivers save up to $250 in fuel @ $3.50/gallon over the life of the tires.***

* Based on commissioned third-party wear test results versus Continental® Pro Contact™ ECO Plus Technology tire size 215/60R16.

**Based on internal wet braking test results versus Goodyear® Assurance® ComforTred® Touring tires size 185/65R15.

***Based on fuel @ $3.50/gallon and upon fuel efficiency estimates from rolling resistance testing versus the Yokohama® Avid TRZ™ 215/60R16 over the warranted 90,000-mile tread life of the MICHELIN Defender. Actual on-road savings may vary.

Even though it is an LRR tire, I wonder if the Latitude Tour is still the better choice for FE? I was planning to buy a set of Latitude Tours next month, but now it seems I may wait for these if these will be better.
