Grrr... Take my money twice a month, then force me to sit down for 8 (schedule C & D) hours to tell them how much they took and ensure that they took enough!

Ahh... that feels better. With tax season coming to a close, I can take the rider off my Sig

Hope everyone survived.

At least it beats the old days of dragging your pregnant wife on a donkey and you on foot on a 4-day trek from Nazareth to Bethlehem just to pay taxes. ;)

I always try to withhold too little, and EFT a check for a few hundred or so at tax time.

In 2004, I accidentally withheld WAY too little, but luckily my son was born early in December..........so that helped to make my EFT manageable again.

This year, I again accidentally withheld WAY too little, but luckily Champion Toyota in Austin called early in December to say my Prius was ready.

Whew! My two kids helping me with my taxes :) Maybe in 2009 my new PHEV will save the day ;)

Hi All:

___Mine are still sitting in the envelope(s) as they have been for almost a week now. We owe Uncle Sam a ridiculous $12.7K between the Federal ($12.1K for them) and the State of CA. (another $600 to them) and I am pissed. My wife had a little bit of a windfall with her retirement, employment with the same company in CA. afterwards and then a new job in IL. but still. Her stipends and expenses were being taxed to the tune of almost 30% and we still owe one heck of a lot of $’s. AMT wiped maybe 1/3 of our deductions out. CA. itself murdered us for over $6K and my wife didn’t even live there let alone vote there

___We did receive a refund from the State of IL. to the tune of $350. WoooHooo, that helps cover the pain :(

___WTF is about all I can say given what I will be worth after tonight ;)

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Anyone notice that there's a breakdown of the "time burden"
in the Fed book this year, a little after the tax tables?
Like, they know exactly how long the average individual or
organization is going to sweat this stuff, and chose to rub
it in your face because naturally there's no way to get any
credit for that. 52.2 hours for a "business" filer? That's
over a week lost just to doing taxes. What makes up for that?

Wife and I try to balance the numbers. We dont hunt deductions down, or count on them should I say. Even with my windfall this year. I went straight to the money man in our company and had him take even more out to cover tax and redo the check I was given. It hurt to see another 10% vanish from my windfall. But we came up even steven this year.

Several years ago we ended up having to pay 14k. It sucked big time. I had my wife tie my arms behind my back when we went to IRS to make arrangements to pay. It was worth it cause they forgave the under payment penalties.
