In my area, the stations serve up E10, and have been putting E10 in my vehicles for years. Today I located a station about 30 miles away that serves up uncut, pure gasoline (E0). I usually make my way to that area about once a week, so I can make this my regular fuel stop. If I were to purchase all my gasoline from this station, how many tanks would it take to achieve an optimum fuel trim for economy in an 08 Escape Hybrid?

Thanks...

In my experience with an '07, it takes about 3 full tanks.

That is a great find for you! The closest one for me is 87 miles away and I only head in that direction 3 times a year, so it is not a help for me. :(

You can also reset the long term fuel maps to the default settings by disconnecting the battery ground after the relays are shutdown by the PCM after the key is in the Off position for ten minutes. Then disconnect the ground for more than 5 minutes. The reset to the default settings will not require you to wait three tanks of running straight gas, because E10 really messes up the fuel maps and the default settings don't take that long to adjust.

I think it reset within a couple miles of filling up. Before filling up my LFT on my scangauge read between 6 and 7. By the time I got home (about 40 miles) it was reading 0.2. When I got home my tank average as reported by the dash indicator was 38.2, and I had to cross 2 mountains on the way home. Maybe its possible that the mountain helped it reset quicker? I had the cruise set on 55 MPH. When I got to the first mountain, as it started to climb the mountain the tach revved up to 4,000 RPM, then after about 10 seconds it suddenly dropped to 3,800 RPM. Then 10-15 seconds after that the RPM's suddenly dropped another 200, and this was while climbing a steady grade.

When I reached the second mountain to climb, the RPM's never went over about 3,500, and it was a steeper incline.

How much were you getting with E10 previously?

I've only had the vehicle for about 2 months now, but I've been averaging about 26 - 32 MPG/tank.

Here's a link to my fuel log:

Nice! Puregas.org claims there is a non-ethanol blending station not far from my work but I haven't investigated...

Yes, www.Pure-Gas.org is where I found this station, and to think that I drive within 1/2 mile from it almost weekly, and didn't know it was there. Now to find a station that sells E0 premium for the Harley... At least for the winter I can get away with 87 octane.

Premium is actually all I can find there for this area, and I don't really want to put that into the Insight.
