Chuck 04-10-2007, 11:22 AM Rumor: He is going to replace Imus in the Morning. :D xcel 04-10-2007, 11:59 AM Hi Tom: ___There are still some interviews that have not been posted but nothing I can think of could have caused this massive hit??? Canada Discovery Channel maybe? NPR was doing a story that hasn’t been published. A local paper as well??? ___Whoops, it looks like someone picked up Teddi-Girl’s Prius record setting thread :) ___Good Luck ___Wayne tbaleno 04-10-2007, 12:03 PM I think someone posted somethign on digg and we were guilty by association ;) xcel 04-10-2007, 12:05 PM Hi Tom: ___Holy smokes; that is an incredible number of guests today and the numbers are still incredibly stupid :D How is the server holding up is my most pressing question right now? ___Good Luck ___Wayne tbaleno 04-10-2007, 12:09 PM Have you noticed any issues ;) I haven't. xcel 04-10-2007, 12:11 PM Hi Tom: ___I have been running around the site like nothing was going on all morning. Nice job on the host and machine choice :D ___See you in chat in a few possibly? ___Good Luck ___Wayne xcel 04-10-2007, 12:15 PM Hi Tom: ___I just had a look at the Who’s Online with 100 users per page and saw the articles are getting hammered. Those are some huge MB pages. I sure hope the server can take it. ___Good Luck ___Wayne Dan 04-10-2007, 12:23 PM Found another culprit. Slashdot has the TeddyGirl article too (http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/04/07/0424220). One of the comments (+5) lists the wikipedia article that has a link farm to cleanmpg. Hold on tight.. 11011011 philmcneal 04-10-2007, 01:50 PM I just had a look at the Who’s Online with 100 users per page and saw the articles are getting hammered. Those are some huge MB pages. I sure hope the server can take it. you kidding me? if we can't handle 4 or 5 digits loads, then how are we able to spread the hypermiler love?!?! brick 04-10-2007, 01:52 PM The site has been running like hot butter all day. We have not yet begun to log hits. ;) brucepick 04-10-2007, 03:20 PM Tom, great work on tweaking the site so it handles the load nicely. We definitely need to "spread the love". xcel 04-10-2007, 06:49 PM Hi Tom: ___I saw on the web stats we punched out over 4.5 GB’s today and there are still over 6 hours to go. We going to be ok on monthly bandwidth allotment if it calms down a notch, correct? ___What a day and it looks like it is finally calming down. I hope all the visitors understood and are now placing into practice some of what they read and learned today? ___Thank you Tom, host and dedicated server :D ___Good Luck ___Wayne CoasterToasterXB 04-10-2007, 10:02 PM Its hip to be green:) Lets see how long this lasts before Americans get amnesia and go back to SUV's Sledge 04-11-2007, 07:38 AM Rumor: He is going to replace Imus in the Morning. :D Nappy headed hypermilers? :D:D:D Pravus Prime 04-14-2007, 05:31 AM Its hip to be green:) Lets see how long this lasts before Americans get amnesia and go back to SUV's LOL, during my drive today I saw a brand new Lincoln Mark LT, the Lincoln version of the F-150 on the road, with the permit in the back window and no plate. While I'm sure he can afford high priced gas if he's buying a Lincoln large pickup, still, it made an eyebrow quirk when I saw it. The first time prices drop, SUV sales will go up. When prices to go up, at least a few organizations will tell us that it's now a buyers market, so go buy an SUV; the savings in price make up for the higher costs of gas. (  ) Happened last time, it'll happen again. Chuck 04-14-2007, 09:18 AM It seems speeding goes down when prices increases - increases when prices are down. There used to be a lot of compact pickups - why does it seem like nobody is interested in bringing them back? brucepick 04-14-2007, 09:24 AM ...There used to be a lot of compact pickups - why does it seem like nobody is interested in bringing them back? I think they have an image as girlie pickups. As useful as they can be, and fuel efficient too if properly designed, I think what pickup buyers really want is power and macho factor. Once you remove that there's little appeal. Unfortunate. Chuck 04-14-2007, 09:41 AM I think they have an image as girlie pickups. As useful as they can be, and fuel efficient too if properly designed, I think what pickup buyers really want is power and macho factor. Once you remove that there's little appeal. Unfortunate. A few years ago, Doonesbury did a thing on selling the Bradley Fighting Machine to the streets. :p I wish Saturday Night Live and the rest of the media would just harp on this stupid obsession with hulking gas guzzlers just to appear macho. Prius Chat had a thread about a few idiotic guys that put (trying to phase this as delicately as possible) a replica of private parts on the hitch. Not all that many years ago, they might have gotten a ticket - now we have people that lack the decency to be ashamed!!! This along with the driving I see sometimes makes me wonder if America is bent on going down the tubes with idiots trying to prove themselves or overindulging themselves.... JimboK 04-14-2007, 10:31 AM Prius Chat had a thread about a few idiotic guys that put (trying to phase this as delicately as possible) a replica of private parts on the hitch. I've seen that more than once around here. (Remember, we're in Virginia.) While part of me thought, "How immature and redneckish," I confess that I still chuckled.
