2012 Honda Civic - the updated Civic has competitive, though not class-leading, fuel economy but manufacturing is currently constrained by damage to Honda's supply chain. The Civic will be the last Honda to get back to full production.

Honda posted August sales of 82,321 vehicles, a decrease of 27.2 percent, based on the daily selling rate*. Honda year-to-date sales reached 770,265, down 6.0 percent versus last year. Production limitations caused by the March 11 earthquake in Japan continued to improve, but reduced vehicle supplies adversely affected August sales results.

Honda

Honda Division posted August sales of 73,267, a decrease of 27.5 percent versus August 2010. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for August with sales of 18,439, a decrease of 21.2 percent compared to last year, followed by the CR-V with sales of 16,572, a decrease of 18.1 percent. The Pilot SUV posted sales of 9,825, an increase of 11.4 percent versus last year.

Honda stated that the production plan for most models returned to 100 percent by the end of August at all North American factories. (Not included in "most models" is the Civic, which, as announced earlier, won't resume full production until sometime in the fall.)

Acura

Acura Division recorded August sales of 9,054, a decrease of 24.5 percent versus August 2010, and year-to-date sales of 79,136, down 8.1 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,126, down 31.5 percent.

*The daily selling rate (DSR) is calculated with 26 days for August 2011 and 25 days for August 2010. Year-to-date DSR is calculated with 204 days for 2011 and 203 for 2010. All percentages reflect DSR.

Production must be up and running again -- one of my Honda dealers actually had Fits listed in their Saturday ad this weekend, an extreme rarity. The even listed a base MT model for $15,600.
