pulled up to the fitness center, and parked there was a beautiful, brand new honda CRZ hydrid. dang nice looking car. i wish i could have figured out who the owner was so i could have asked him about it.

fire engine red. why couldn't the civics come in that color?

I've seen a blue one and a white one on the road. I don't know about the Civic colors but you could always have the car repainted. ;)

During a week in Paris I saw one every morning parked in a lot.

I was dreaming about what could be achieved with it... and when I arrived home I looked at CMPG logs but except Wayne's review the others logs are rather "low" (<50MPG) in absolute MPG :(

Always dreaming about everything that looks like an insight 1 and is 10 times cleaner than a "clean" diesel...

Have fun,

Denis.

Hi Denis:

If the CR-Z had that fantastic 2.2L i-DTEC, damn would that be hot ;)

Whenever I see a CR-Z on the road, it catches my eye like few others out there. I wish it sold better but with 2-seats...

Honda's always been very innovative over the decades. I recently joined the Honda "family" with a 2007 Pilot that employs ECO, and have been impressed with that.

This new CRZ hybrid looks great, but I'm reluctant to embrace hybrids of any type, hoping instead just to make the quantum leap (when the time's right) to a full electric or LPG-powered vehicle.

Is Honda developing anything other than electric hybrids?

Well, there's the Clarity, that's an HFCV.
They've just had plug-in concepts so far.

They also have the compressed natural gas Civic, going back several years, even earlier than in the links below:

The Clarity is available as a lease to a handful of owners in California:

Unfortunately both vehicles are ridiculously expensive at the moment, particularly the HFCV.

The Civic CNG is only for very high-mileage balance-of-payments hawks who don't need to carry any luggage.

Yeah, usually around here (Connecticut), whenever I see a CNG vehicle, it's usually a state government fleet car.
