Hi All:
___I received a request for assistance from Eric Powers of the MaHG (Madison Hybrid Group) for Wisconsin area members to attend the Wi. - State Tax Credit for hybrid vehicle purchase - hearing in Madison this coming Wednesday. Here are the details.
Your help is urgently needed! We need *as many people as possible* to show up at the hearing. Here is our chance to make a difference as a group!
Representative Parisi and others have proposed a $1,000 tax credit for people who buy hybrids.
The basics about the credit:
"In order to qualify for the credit, an individual would need to purchase a hybrid that achieves either 40 miles per gallon combined city/highway mileage or at least 15% better mileage than its conventional counterpart."
As Madison Hybrid Group organizer, I support this bill plan to testify in person.
If you think you can make it, please respond to me via email or on the MHG web site forums.
Plan to meet as group in the rotunda of the Capitol no later than 9:15 am on Wednesday. If you miss meeting us, then go directly to the Committee on Ways and Means hearing in the Capitol room 300 Northeast.
The sponsors of this bill are hoping for a good turn-out at the hearing and ask that people testify in support of the bill even if they might propose changes.
Three ways you can support the bill:
Write a written statement of support (You can send it to Rep. Parisi directly)
Come to the Capitol on Wednesday and simply sign in at the hearing as a supporter. After signing in you may stay as long or short as you like.
Come to the Capitol on Wednesday and take a few moments to speak at the microphone.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the hearing.
There is more information at the Madison Hybrid Group web site in the post titled "Parisi Hybrid Tax Credit Bill - Press Release". Here's the link Parisi Hybrid Tax Credit Bill - Press Release. ( http://madisonhybridgroup.com/yabb/index.php?board=13&action=display&threadid=70)
And for reference, here is a table I created that summarizes hybrids' increase in EPA mpg estimates compared to their conventional counterparts. I have lots more data but will not bore everyone with it for now ;)
