Last night I got a call from a friend saying she just lost her job. :(

Finished the call in the church parking lot and proceeded to open the passenger door, but forgot it can't be done in certain situations while the drivers door is open.

Anyway I got too muscular and pulled the passenger door handle clear off.

The intensity of my screaming "Darn!" might have well been an F-bomb at the church parking lot. :o :o :o (flunked the saint test)

I did get good council on how to fix it.

DO NOT use super glue. The five-minute epoxy seems to leave the door handle as strong as before it was broken, although there are minor signs of visible damage. Had to prop up the stump of the door handle with popsickle sticks to get a good bond.

Nah, the church people probably wouldn't like it, but I don't recall any religious prohibition about expressing emotions because you're upset. Breaking door handles on the other hand...;)

I recollect replacing more than one Honda driver's side internal door latch. Again, just plastic. Seem to average 5~8 years before they go.

For the few people with hand-crank windows, those too. I broke mine a couple years ago. :o

The handle came off of my eclipse once when I opened the door. Yeah, it just came right off. I didn't pull with any abnormal force or anything.

I had an old Mazda truck - 1987 B2000 stick - and both interior door handles were broken. The metal pull-tab was fine but the plastic housing crumbled. You opened the door by pulling the whole thing forward: the handle, parts of the housing and cable all in one.

You can fix engine blocks with JB Weld :)

I keep both the 5 minute and 24 hours versions in the fridge, it keeps longer that way.

That sounds familiar! My old Mazda car had exactly the same problem on one side after a guest driver yanked the handle too hard. Replacements for the plastic handle housing are no longer available, of course. I patched it with a bolt, a piece of heavy wire, and a zip tie, so it operates normally now.
