One SWEET ride!

My brother-in-law is going to sell his trike and wanted me to take pics and list it for him. I'm going to detail it and polish all the polished aluminum and chrome on it. It is a 2004 Harley Davidson Fat Boy that he had a Mystery Designs trike kit installed on. It has independent rear suspension with a raked front end. The 40 series 18" rear tires add to "the look." If you know of anyone interested, it is a very nice trike. He just had the official Harley 5000 mile service performed on it and it only has about 5060 miles on it. It is a nearly new trike for a used price.

I don't think the mpg's are anything I would be interested in. I did find out that it idles fine at stop signs. I didn't have to sit a rev the engine continuously. Also, it will upshift fine short shifting at lower rpm's. It has always amazed me that a manufacturer will sell a $20k+ bike without a tach.

I am riding this to work tomorrow with a for sale sign on it. I filled it tonight with gas, so I will see what kind of mileage I can get with it. It doesn't roll nearly as well as a two-wheeler. As I mentioned previously, You don't have to wind it up to shift and rev it while sitting still. I need to push it out of my subdivision since I leave at about 4:25am. The trike has no mufflers. It does sound deep and throaty, but I don't believe all of my neighbors would appreciate it that early.:D

My wife said I sounded like a teenager taking off this morning. It was a bit airish and the spots of fog at 4:30am cooled the air quite a bit. On a hill that I usually fas and pic up 15 to 20 mph on for a 1.25 mile coast, it slowed down 20 mph at halfway. It glides like a rock.:eyebrow: The 275/40ZR18 tires stick very well.

I shifted at lower rpm, dwl up hills and took it easy all the way to work this morning. This evening, I started out nice and easy but had a moment of insanity come over me. I opened it up a bit to see how it handled at faster speeds. There weren't any surprises and it rode fine. I gassed up when I got back to town this evening. 96.5 miles on the round trip and it figured 37.5mpg. Not great, but it was better than the 30mpg I was expecting.
